BM of SD6 just called. SD6 was excited to tell me that she lost her first tooth! Then, BM got on the phone and told me that although she has an IUD she has had sore boobs for the last couple of days and this morning she threw up...so she took two PG tests and they were both positive. She is freaking because she is on IUD and expected that to be efficient. Aside from SD6 she also has a set of twin boys 22 months old and one of them had hydrocephalus (water on the brain) so her plate is already super full. We should find out tomorrow if this is a false alarm or a true pregnancy.

Bday party next weekend...wish me luck

So I'm spending this week that SKIDS arent here planning bday party for SDSTB6. We are doing a co-party with BM this year and we are including all extended families including my mom, DH's siblings and neices/nephews, BM's parents (bio & step) sister and neices and nephews, step dad with BM's parents and siblings. It should be a crazy time.

This is the first time since SD turned 1 that DH has agreed to a co-party. (I wasnt around for the 1st bday which was a disaster with DH getting into a fist fight with BM's bro-in-law).

I read alot of posts on here and although I can empathize, I dont often relate because as blended families go, I have one of the better situations. I am pretty lucky as I dont get alot of crap from the two BM's in my life and I have decent to excellent relationships with my step daughters. However let me tell you a bit about BM of SD14.

We got some serious techno issues here....Ugh

So last week I was debating whether or not to replace SD14's ipod....which now is a moot point. She sent me a text asking me to come get her tonight to spend the night. (not our weekend) That in itself was odd but of course I agreed. Sent DH to pick her up. Once she got here it took about 30 min. to figure out why she graced us with her presence. She said "Did I leave my DSi here?" Ummmm....NO! So now she has lost her DSi! I guess the ipod is a moot point since now she has long an even more expensive gadget. I am so done buying her techno toys.

To replace or not to replace the IPOD...that is the question

SD14 got an Ipod Nano for XMas. (about 150.00) We got it with warranty so that if anything went wrong with it, it would be replaced. However after having it for a few months SD came home and it was broken. Still worked, but the screen was cracked and chipped and it wasnt looking pretty. It looked like it had either been ran over by something or jumped up and down on. SD claims that one of her friends accidentally dropped it. We werent buying it but whatever.

What next. UGH!

So Saturday I load SD5 into our vehicle to take her back to BM's and nada...it wont start. It is turning over but acting like it's out of gas. The gas gauge is the one thing that does not work so I keep track of mileage. I look at the milage and it's low but shouldnt be empty. Oh well, maybe I miscalculated. So I call SD5's SF to come and get her and take her back to BM's. The next day, Sunday, SIL brings over 6 gallons of gas and dumps it in. Tried to start it. Still nothing. Great. Now I'm thinking my fuel pump has went out. That is several hundreds of dollars in repair.

Do you have a physical reaction to dealing with BM?

I do, and I hate it.

Whenever I have to deal with the BM of SD14 I physically react to it. My stomach muscles tense up until I feel nautious and I know my heart rate increases. I can sometimes feel my heart pounding in my chest.

If I know I have to talk to her later in the day I get nervous...I feel butterflies. Sometimes my kidney even starts to hurt.

Has anyone read this? I just finished it. What did you think of it?

As I find it I read that my situation and experience with BM2 is similar to that of the authors. We have a good relationship now and we get along, are friendly etc. We do things together as a blended family. It's not always perfect but it is good. We co-parent well and SD5 has a great relationship with all of her parentals (2 bio's 2 steps). Since I finished the book I've given it to BM2 and she's reading it.

Holiday - 4th of July

We alternate holidays with BM's. This year 4th of July falls on Monday. It is our long weekend to have SKIDS (Thursday 6:30pm to Monday 7:30pm is our regular weekend) but it is BM's year to have SKIDS for 4th of July.

Money is tight and I dont have the finances to entertain the kids, do much for the 4th, or even feed them. (no bbq or any of the traditional 4th of July weekend hoopla)

The trailer park, a small victory, and coming to the rescue

Well I had previously posted how SD14 was spending a large amount of BM's time hanging out at a trailer park with friend and 17 yo boyfriend. Over DH's last weekend with SD he informed her that he wanted to meet this bf. SD momentarily looked panicked and then claimed that bf was to scared to meet DH. DH and SD agreed that she would just text DH when she was with bf and he would just show up.
