Holiday - 4th of July

We alternate holidays with BM's. This year 4th of July falls on Monday. It is our long weekend to have SKIDS (Thursday 6:30pm to Monday 7:30pm is our regular weekend) but it is BM's year to have SKIDS for 4th of July.

Money is tight and I dont have the finances to entertain the kids, do much for the 4th, or even feed them. (no bbq or any of the traditional 4th of July weekend hoopla)

Technically we dont have to take the kids back until Sunday night because the holiday isnt technically until Monday, but I want to take them back Saturday. My justification is that although the holiday falls on Monday alot of families will be celebrating over the holiday and even alot of communities are doing there fireworks on Sunday...so the SKIDS should be with their BM's so that they can partake in these activities with BM since it is her year to have them for the holiday. Am I crazy?

BM#2 is taken care of...I spoke with her this morning. She was anticipating a Sunday night return and was thrilled when I suggested a Saturday night return. She said I was thoughtful. Smile

Now BM#1 will hopefully respond. Sent her text. She hasnt responded. It will be a miracle if she does. She typically exspects me to go through SD14 and I hate that. Nothing like co-parenting with your child right? Ugh.

Update -

ok so I sent BM#1 the following text -

Me: Hi! What are ur 4th plans? I know its dads wkend but ur holiday. We would like to get her Thurs or fri night and bring back sat night so she can be with u for holiday stuff. What r u thinkin?

BM#1: Ive got no plans. I have no vehicle 2 go any where, Im not with bf anymore

Me: Well I was thinking of bringing her back to u sat night so she could be with u for ur holiday. Were taking SD5 thurs to sat night. Whatever u want is ok with us. Sat is her cousins bday so we would like to have her that day for sure. Thanks.

CRICKETS (it's been several hours)

I have a feeling we will end up with SD14 all weekend plus Monday because BM is depressed, broke, and wont be celebrating the holday.

I usually go all out for holidays and this year since we arent suppose to have kids and because of some finanical strain, I have nothing to provide for the extended weekend or the holiday. No dinner, no activities, not even planning to go to any fireworks.

We took both girls on a road trip to the UP of MI last year (8 hour car ride one way!) and stayed the extended weekend with my family, had a huge party, went to a large event and a grand fireworks display. Damnit it is THEIR turn!
