A night of peace
So SD10 lives with us fulltime. Mom is 5 hours away w no visitation. SD is always with us...did I mention that?!? Never spends the night anywhere but home...has no interest in hanging out with friends. So she got invited to a sleepover tonight and DH said she was going. Meanwhile...there was crying and worrying and refusing to go. Well she went and I have to admit, it's quiet, I get to watch what I want on TV and I am enjoying myself. She'll be home at noon tomorrow...is it selfish and bad that I'm dreading noon tomorrow and should just concentrate on my alone time and enjoy it? I seriously only get a break when she is sleeping or at school. I spend more time w her than DH does...I pick her up after school, I take her to sports practice, etc. I just feel like sometimes I need a break but feel selfish for saying so...

Not selfish at ALL!!! My skids are w/us 5 days a week, and I SO look forward to weekends. I can't imagine having them here ALL THE TIME. You're a saint.
If you think you are selfish
If you think you are selfish then I am the most evil stepmother ever!
My SD15 lives with us and I so look forward to the weekends that she makes plans for the entire weekend!! We have full custody, BM was not awarded visitation but sometimes SD will go visit her. I wish she would go every weekend.
Every afternoon I secretly wish that she will text me and ask to go to a friends house. Of course I never say no }:) Then I get a couple more hours of peace!
I met DH when she was 10 and she didn't have a friend in the world and refused to go with BM so I had her every minute of every day.
She didn't start making friends and going out until 7th grade but now that she's 15 she never ever wants to be home with us.

Not selfish at all. Your being to hard on yourself my bios are usually great kids well behaved, manners, responsible and able to do a lot for themselves. But like any kids they have their moments and like any parent sometimes I need me time and the younger they are the more you need a break sometimes. Enjoy the evening!
