Anxiety attack for SS
SS has been coughing all weekend but kept telling us he felt fine. He felt a little warm but insisted that he wasn't sick. BF kept him an extra night last night (Sunday) and brought him to school this morning. They had to stop by BM's house to pick up SS's backpack on the way. She lives in a different county, and they did so well getting ready and out the door with plenty of time that they ended up getting to her house about an hour early. So, SS and BF sat and chatted with BM about the weekend and how much fun SS had. SS seemed to be feeling fine.

Where does CS really go...
Ladies and gents, I ask you...where does all YOUR hard-earned money go that you are forced to pay BM? I'd like to hear some of the responses...BM asked BF if she could borrow some money since his payment hasn't cleared into her account yet. She's on her way to spend the weekend in another city and go to concerts while she's there. BF asked her where all his money is going that she's paying her in CS. He said it's funny that since she's been unemployed this is the second concert she's gone to and she's planning a cruise for this fall.

Question about CS modification
Ok, so we got the letter from the CS enforcement agency saying that they were going to raise the CS amount and that BF can appeal that in court if he wishes. My question is, considering that BM was fired from her job in October of '07 (six months ago) and still doesn't have a job...what kind of outcome is most likely? BF is hoping that he can prove BM to be unstable and unable to care for SS adequately at this time, and the judge will grant him primary custody. Would a judge be more likely to do that or increase the CS payment to make up for her loss of a job?

Setback and CS modification
BM has been rather nice lately, but we knew that there would eventually be something that set her back a few steps. My parents came down for the weekend last weekend, which happened to be the weekend that we had SS for visitation. We asked SS if he would like for him and BF to spend the weekend with me and my parents in the condo they rented, or stay at home. We gave him the option, and he decided to spend the weekend with my parents.

I get to start planning our wedding!
Hooray! It's still a year away, but last week BF told me that I could officially start planning for it. If you haven't noticed, we're a very unconventional couple. We've known for about 6 months that we're going to be married and it's going to happen on this date, but I still don't have a ring yet (and probably won't for a while). There probably won't even be a formal proposal for us, but he might come up with something to suprise me. However, since it's kind of hard to call someone your fiance when you don't have a ring on your finger, I guess he's still technically BF to me.

Something I've been saying a lot lately....
I've noticed that I've been saying the words, "BF won't let me do that," a lot lately. He won't "let me" go to the tanning bed, or become a massage therapist, or spend the night with a friend, or highlight my hair, or smoke... Now, granted he can't stop me from doing any of these things, but in the interest of saving my own sanity from having to deal with the fallout afterwards (including him leaving me if I smoke), I just don't do them. The only thing he's ever actually come out and said "No" to was me giving blood before our vacation.

Event at SS's school went well!
BM invited BF and me to attend a schoolwide spring carnival type event at SS's school last night. BF thought that it was just gonna be an opportunity for BM to point out "the little tramp" to all of her family and all of the other parents. But in the spirit of how well everything's been going lately, we went. I even baked a cake for the cake walk that SS's room was hosting (which got snatched up very quickly! That made me feel good ).

More strange turns in my epic drama
So for those of you who know my story, you'll find these things just as strange as BF and I do. Last weekend, BF got SS on Thursday night to stay for Easter - extra time that BM gave him which was not in the parenting plan. That alone was interesting enough. Well, BF was so busy Thursday that he couldn't leave to get SS, so he asked her if I could go get him. She said OK! She'd meet me at the end of her road. So I went and picked up SS, and she loaded him into our car and made smalltalk with me about SS. She said congratulations on the baby and she hopes everything goes well.

Emergency Blended Family Pow-Wow (Long)
We awoke this morning at a little after 6:00 AM to the phone ringing. BM called, I answered - she asked to speak to BF. I have no problem with her as long as she's being civil, so of course I said, "Ok, hold on." Our phone is loud, and I could hear her telling my groggy BF that the situation with SS had gotten out of her control and that the four of us needed to get together and have a meeting. She said that she wanted me to be there because I help raise him too. So, BF, BM, SS and I convened this morning for a meeting.

She's going for more money.
We got a letter in the mail the other day from the child support enforcement agency. BF didn't read it until BM called him asking if he'd gotten the letter yet. She then explained to him that she had been fired (I didn't tell him, I wanted him to find out from her) and that she requested that his income be re-evaluated so that hopefully she could get a higher child support payment from him. Why she felt the need to tell him this personally, I don't know.
