My 11 year old thinks he should be treated like his 14 year old cousin

}:) so my son looks up to my 14 year old nephew and while my nephew is a really good kid by that I mean gets good grades is very respectful to my sister. my 11 year old doesn't understand why he doesn't get to talk and act like his cousin. He says they are only 3 years apart that's not a big difference my sister and her son joke around with each other a lot bit I am so tired of having to explain why he can't do this and that I am close to losing it with my kid. is this normal for my 11 year old to act this way?

Well I'm not sure why couldn't an 11 year old joke with his mother, but a 14 year old could. It just doesn't make any sense to limit joking by age. Or to forbid someone from joking around. :?

I agree with this. Maybe we're missing something. Can you give us an example of what joke he's made trying to imitate cousin that turned out to be just inappropriate when son said it?
