"you were right, mom."
Best anniversary present ever! Princess called three times today and left messages for me to call her. I'm still really hurt from our last phone call, but I finally called her back. She talked for an hour, wanting my advice on her classes for the spring, switching her major, and telling about what really happened between her and Stepping Stone.

We're still together, still growing strong
12 years ago today, I said "I do." Those two simple words changed my life upside down. In that moment, I became a wife, a mother, a "last-wife," a daughter in law, a sister in law, a drill sargeant, a maid, a cook, a nurse, an event planner, a personal assistant, and many days, a bitch. And I'd do it all again.

Till the cows came home... and the chicken too...
Dammit! They're cute. But I REFUSE to admit that to anyone but you guys. All I keep thinking is WTH was Loghead thinking. He allowed the skids to skip school on Wednesday to go to the cattle sale with Grandpa, on a whim, and came home with 2 calves.

update regarding the cows...
It is funny. Yes, I'm pissed, but I can admit its funny. And get this- Loghead tried to write the calves off as an "anniversary present." I don't know who is crazier- him or me, for marrying him?!
Goodness, when we met he was all "straight laced" business man type, but he has turned into a Green Acres kinda guy. Wanted the kids to have the same kind of upbringing on a farm (which he always described as though he hated) so 5 years ago, we moved back to the town where he was raised, and got this place, five minutes down the road from his parents.

Going to bed before this day gets any "better..."
Princess posted on FB that she's going on mission trip with Habitat for Humanity over spring Break in March. Lofty goals for a college freshman. Truly admire it, I do. Hell, I did it sophomore year. But it would have been nice if she'd told even her father before posting it on FB! He blasted her on FB for the world to see... In a joking way to outsiders, but those of us that know him would be able to see the anger between the lines...

Holy Cow!
They bought a cow. PITA skipped school and spent the day with Grandpa at a cattle sale. They brought home 2 cows. And apparently, PITA, Loghead and Grandpa had been planning this while. And no one discussed it with me. Smoke is coming out of my ears. Yes, we live on a "farm" but it's not really set up for cattle- more like goats and chickens. Which we've had some of each over the years, but the goats had to go when they started climbing on the new car three years ago... The winter months are coming, and we have no way to provide shelter for these animals.

More news from Parent Conferences
So the non-custodial bio-mom that drove an hour to meet with me last night? The custodial bio-dad and stepmom came in tonight... And they only had NICE things to say about bio-mom and her husband. They talked about how nice it was that their daughter had 2 homes where she receives love and support, and it was nice to know they could send her school work with her to bio-mom's house for the weekend, and that they would complete it together, and bring it back home...

Applauding a few bio-moms... Parent Conferences from a teacher's point of view...
As a teacher, I see a lot of strange family dynamics at Parent Conferences.
Two that had me smiling tonight:
1. One bio-mom only sees her daughter 3 weekends a month. She made an appointment 2 months ago to meet with me for Conferences tonight. The child lives with her bio-father and step-mother, who did not make plans to attend. Her bio-mom drove over an hour to meet me with me tonight. She had nothing to say but praise for the girl's father and step-mom.
Wonder if she's bipolar too?
Loca Grande is bipolar... Genetically, i know there's a good chance at leas one of the three skids could have it too... I wonder if it's Princess?
She sent a sugary sweet text this afternoon about how she misses us and hoped we were having a fun evening since it's such a beautiful day. This after how nasty she was to me on Sunday?
I texted back that I had Parent Conference meetings all night. She later texted for me to have fun and relax when I got home.

Loca Grande just "lost" another kid...
Lazy Boye spent his weekend with Loca Grande. No school Monday. Came home bragging about cruising around in Loca Grande's new Mustang convertible...
!!!!!!! She doesn't have money to pay for PITA's braces, but she gets a new car???? A convertible, no less!
PITA was in the kitchen and heard this. Amazingly, his dad nor I scolded him when he said, "That bitch. Can't help get me a car, or pay for my braces, but she goes off and does a stupid thing like that?! She is NOT my mother..." and stormed out of the room.
