OT/Has anyone ever bought kids/skids a Furby?

Thinking about getting DD soon to be 6 one for her birthday. I just want to make sure this thing isn't going to creep me out.

When my step sister was 5 my parents bought her a talking Barney and that thing would suddenly start talking in the middle of the night asking us to sing songs with him. If I was spending the night or babysitting I would put it in the garage.

My Life is about to change. SD15 now living with us for the school year.

Bat finally signed over custody to us yesterday after hearing from both counties about having to sign the notarized paper. SD15 seems to be adjusting well to our home but I know that this is only the honeymoon period and the real SD15 will come out soon. I just hope I am prepared.

We had a family meeting last night and went over the family rules as well as both SD15 and DD5 chores list. It seemed to go well and at least we are all on the same page for now.

If you read my last blog (thanks) you will know that DH was on his way to drop off SD15 back at the Bat's house so she will no longer miss any more school. Bat texts DH that she went to the school and unregistered SD15 and according to the registrar all DH would need is SD15 birth certificate to register her at the new school. DH texts back that he can be at the school in 10 minutes and they can all talk about it together. DH arrives at the school and surprise NO BAT.

BM (aka the Bat) is a selfish controlling (insert suitable farm animal/bad word)

DH was supposed to meet with BM (the Bat) at her therapist’s office today to discuss and have her sign a simple paper for the county school system giving her permission as the custodial parent for SD15 to go to school in our county. This has nothing to do with the courts, CS, or anything else this is just for SD15 to be enrolled in our county. We live in a county in MD that is considered one of the best in the state and enrolling kids from out of county can be tricky. If there are any posters on here from MD you can probably guess which county I am talking about.

Suggestions on House Rules-Now that SD15 is living with us full time.

I would appreciate any suggestions that you may have regarding house/family rules that will make this transition easier for all of us. I would also appreciate any constructive advice for myself on how to deal with a teenager in my home. I am still trying to figure out how to parent a 5 year old and I have no clue how to help guide DH in parenting a 15 year old. I am going to try to stay disengaged as far as parenting but I know I am a bit of a control freak and don't know if I will be able to hand all responsibility over to DH all the time.

DH and BM are meeting with her shrink tomorrow at noon to discuss the change. WTF. DH is having the lawyer draw up any paperwork needed so she will just sign when he sees her. This is two days of work the DH is missing and he works in sales so he has to be at work to make money.

Interesting tidbit-our lawyer told us that BM must pay us support even if we calculate her income as min wage. This alone with stop BM from letting SD15 move in with us.

Anyone know of a good box of wine? I think I need to go big tonight!

DH spoke at length with a lawyer today and basically it is all up to BM if she really doesn't want SD15 living with her anymore. If she fights it there is nothing that we can do. DH will have to drop her back off at her BM's house today. However, if she wants to go through with it our attroney is going to draw up paper work for both of them to sign so we can enroll SD15 in the new school.

Emergency! SD "Moved" in with us last night-I am freaking out.

:jawdrop: I don’t even know how to start this story. I have posted before about BM’s crazy seems to follow the cycles of the moon. Some weeks she is a normal functioning member of society and others she is bat shit crazy and no one can predict what she will do next. DH and I have always wondered why SD15 would want to live in that situation but we always respected her choice to live with the werewolf.
