Thoughtfulness? Guilty as Charged

My DH and I take care of our kids, practically to a fault. SS is focused on a sports career and the expense of equipment, travel expenses and monthly team payments has been overwhelming. He needs transportation so he uses our truck and gas money to get around. Because of his schedule, he needs money to eat out-a lot. We don't get child support from the DM but somehow we make it work. My daughter owes me an incredible amount of money, yet with their new jobs, no home and baby, they don't have the funds to pay it back just yet. They even live with us. We help with my granddaughter when necessary. My son, as independent as he tries to be, still relies on us for his phone bill, his car insurance and once in awhile a car payment. We don't say no. Fortunately, the SD is pretty self-reliant and doesn't ask or need anything from us. As a result, to keep it fair, she gets really cool birthday presents. :jawdrop: Still, I believe jealousy has set in and naturally, I am the target of her hostility.

As a result, she's basically made a mess of her relationship with her dad and eliminated one with me. I tried on more than one occasion to invite her to dinner, just her and I, but my requests went unanswered. Her aunt, dad and even her mom told her she should go. Nope. The SD and DH tried counseling, but after weeks of therapy, they graduated, agreeing to at least texting once a day. We've invited SD and boyfriend up to our camper on numerous occasions - they come, but the temp is quite chilly when she is anywhere near me.

We've made so many attempts at rebuilding a relationship but simply been found guilty of nothing but thoughtfulness.

SS does have scouts on the doorstep and recently signed into the minors. It really is a big deal. But both you and Morrimom have a point. The BD needs to get out and BS needs to become completely independent.
