Just Some Stories
so this week I got a text from BM saying that SD5 cut her own hair... BM never noticed until she was brushing out her hair before bed and chucks starting coming out... apparently SD5 just wanted her hair cut... BM & DH both told her separately all she had to do was ask and they could have made an appointment to get her hair cut... lol
She also got her one ear pierced a couple weeks ago... (DH done it as he is a body piercer/Tattoo artist) SD5 has been asking to get her ears done for weeks, I text BM and she came down while SD5 got it done...she only got 1 done for now...when shes ready DH will do the other one!!
My aunt is planning on doing henna tattoos soon and I asked her the age for this as i figured SD5 would love to get one done (if she is old enough) she already always b-lines for "tattoo" stations at Family fun days and covers herself in stick on tattoos lol I msged BM about it asking her if it was okay, DH already said he was okay with it... but BM said she needed to think about it because SD5 got her ear pierced and wants to dye her hair and now wants a henna tattoo.... dying her hair yes I think she is way to young yet. but a henna tattoo last about 2 weeks depending on skin and what you are doing so for SD5 probably a week lol! Can't make a decision yet anyways until i find out the age. lol just had to vent about that a bit hahaha

we aren't letting her die her
we aren't letting her die her hair... and i was just looking into the age i have no idea what the age is and all the details my aunt is getting it for me... once i get all the info if its not something she should be doing she wont get it done simple... lol
Permanent tattoos, I'll
Permanent tattoos, I'll agree. Wait until 18. Henna...who cares unless it violates school dress code.
Hair dye, though? There's no reason one needs to wait until 18 for that.

Has to think about henna?
Has to think about henna? really? lol
It will only last 3-5 days max on a kid that age, we do it all the time with the kids and skids.
LOL.
I can sympathize with the hair cut thing, when SD was 4, BM left her unattended while she was drinking and SD cut her hair, all of her hair, down to the scalp.
Bm took her to the hair cut place and they had to buzz cut her to clean it up.
IT WAS HORRIBLE!
Every time she took off her winter hat people in public would look at her like she was recovering from chemo.
She hated taking her hat off in public, her hair was less than chin length 2 years later when she started Kindargarden, it took so long to grow back.
I would NEVER let my kids dye their hair though, I know its popular with the teens and such but I just would never do it, ever.
They can wait till they are 18 for that!
lcuk for us you cant really
lcuk for us you cant really tell she cut it... some pieces at the front are shorter then the rest lol BM is making an appointment to clean it all up lol i think every kid has cut their own hair at one point or another lol and both DH & Myself are putting are foot down on the hair dye but we aren't sure where BM stands yet...
Just get her some of that
Just get her some of that hair chalk, it washes right out. Or does she want a normal color?
we got tons of it! lol she
we got tons of it! lol she wants the real stuff but she is fine with the chalk she just sees both BM & myself dying our hair
Okay so she is a typical 5
Okay so she is a typical 5 year old...wants to dress up like a princess, plays with dolls and such... she wants to dye her hair because both BM & myself dye our hair and she knows it and also DH dyes his from time to time... DH is a pericer/Tattoo Artist so she sees people getting tattoos all the time its normal for her... so she loves the fake ones and henna was just an option i was looking into for her... didn't think that would be a big deal... and she wanted her ears pierced she only got 1 done and when she is ready she will get the other... i don't see nothing wrong with her getting her ears pierced... but that's where the line is drawn until she is older...
lets agree to disagree, we
lets agree to disagree, we have different parents styles and that okay.
just because she wants it or wants to do it is saying we will allow her too.
that's pretty much what my
that's pretty much what my aunt said..she'd have to a little spot to see if she reacts
What happens when she is out
What happens when she is out with her teen friends and one of them says 'Hey, my brother/sister/dad has a tattoo gun, lets do tats on each other'. Of course, her Dad does it so it should be OK????
we are gonna teach her the
we are gonna teach her the difference...we can just hope she has enough guidance to make the smart choice
My mom let me dye my hair
My mom let me dye my hair when I was 13-14. Bright red streaks. It was the semi-temp kind, lasted 6-8 weeks or so. I got henna tattoos several times, I think around 16 I got my own hennna kit. No pierced ears until 12, but that was because my parents wanted me to be responsible for the holes and earrings on my own (I can't tell you how many pairs my sd9 has lost, so I get that)
BTW, my mom has a master's in child psychology and is a guidance counselor, not some BM who didn't give a rat's, and I wasn't getting knocked up or tattooed in high school.
i think these issues just
i think these issues just differ with parents.... you got to teach your kids the best you can and hope they make the right choices as they get older....was our choice to wait until SD5 er ears wanted to get her ears pierced and she wants to get her hair cut and DH, BM & myself agree a trim and clean up what she cut herself nothing more.... and henna tattoos would be a treat for completing her chore chart we have for her.
