O/T What is Your Beauty Vice?

I adore expensive perfume and also watch Misha on youtube.  Her series is called Sugar Puff and Fluff.   I also get a mani/pedi regularly with acrylic mani with gel polish and gel polish on the toes as well.

I have to laugh at Chef because he did not want to get a pedicure the first time I took him to a salon.  He almost fought me on the way in.  Once in he enjoyed it.  He has gnarly, buniony chunky, flat feet with shrek like toes that curl up and the nails get far tooooo long.    Sorry to brag but I have (or so I've been told by a lot of people) model feet.  Evenly spaced toes with high arches that look fantastic in strappy roman-style sandles with toe rings.  My ankles are somewhat thick from years of ice and roller skating though.

Lately I've been into DIY eyelash extensions which look completely natural I must say (done properly)  Just look like I have already curled and mascaraed even though I haven't!

I will be trying microneedling soon as I'm a bit adventuresome.

What is your beauty vice?

Lipstick! Can't get enough of it. I will buy new ones all the time mostly in the nude family but sometimes reds etc.

I occasionally get acrylic nails just hate the upkeep.

I'm also really into K Beauty products.

You should see all the lipstick I have too..... I have it stashed everywhere. Even in my car.

TARTE Lipstick---color named is Kind, such a pretty feminine color. It is just the right color for me.

I wish I could  wear nude color shades of lipstick. I tried them all...Washes me out.

Lipstick is my makeup vice without a doubt.

I'm a lipstick whore, too. I cannot stand to have naked lips!

I'm also into primers and always on the hunt for makeup in colors that are flattering to a pasty white skin with some red areas. I love Tarte's Amazonian clay foundation (a little goes a long way, and lasts all day) and StriVectin's Instant Wrinkle Blurring primer. My current obsession is with it Cosmetics CC cream. I love how it feels on my skin, the great coverage, and the 50 SPF.

I’ve used Tarte’s Amazonian clay with good results, but I love tarte’s Shape Tape foundation even more.  Not sure why they named it Shape Tape - there’s no tape involved at all.

Facials ever 4-6 weeks.

Good moisturizer and sunscreen!

Oh, I do spring for expensive liquid eyeliner that stays put too, right now I prefer Clarins.

Do you have any recommendations for someone looking to get a facial for the first time? I've wanted to go for so long but I have no idea what would be the most beneficial and there are SO many choices. I just want pretty skin! lol

I found mine by doing internet search for my area (I don't want to drive for an hour after because it's so relaxing), then I read reviews and asked around....she is one person, not a group corporate place. Offers many choices and price ranges and natural products.

I have had crappy facials before. You just have to do your research and try it with a short session. You have to like the person too, she's in your face for an hour!

Oh and if they are good they will first look at your skin and ask questions....this helps determine the right treatment. If they don't ask, they aren't good.

Ohhhh beauty vices... So hard to pick one!

I too get my nails done with acrylics and pedicures done regularly, although I do NOT have model feet lol I'd say my biggest beauty vice is false lashes and skincare. I find it so much easier to throw a beautiful pair of falsies on rather than mess around with mascara. I have whimpy, stupid eyelashes that don't look very nice with mascara anyways.

Admittedly, I need to get into freelance makeup to make use of my ridiculous collection. You know those ikea storage systems beauty gurus on youtube use? Yup... That's how I store my makeup, but I don't MAKE any money off of owning all of it and I need to change that lol

I have over 600 bottles of nail polish, I have long natural nails and change nail colors about every 3 days. My favorite is thermo polish that changes color with body heat, depending on the color it looks ombre.

you are to have natural strong nails!  I am far too rough on my hands.

Pedicures every 2 weeks. I take my own polish in case I need to touch it up or paint my fingernails. I hve waaaay too much polish!

spf 50 all year round beats all other beauty products by far when one reaches 43. Add some estee Lauder ‘cement’ double wear foundation and you can shave a few years off

Quality hair products - all the way.

For me, and for currently residing in the south, it’s products for curly hair. My go-to has always been Aveda, so my beauty vice is Aveda hair products for curly hair.

For curley hair, Aveda is amazing!

  • Pacifica Coconut Nectar Color Quench Lip Tint
  • Palmers coco butter lotion, oil, coconut oil... anything Palmers
  • Dr. Bronners magic soap in original peppermint
  • Bare Minerals
  • PEdicure, both for how cute my feet look after AND for the 1/2 hour+ in the massage chair.

Never had a facial but want to get one. I need a whole Spa Day!

Happy FRIDAY all you fabulous StepTalkers!

Oh my favorite topic haha. I'm obsessed with sunscreen. I wear it every day all year round.  I use mostly beauty counter. The overnight resurfacing peel is amazing. I LOVE their products. They're such a great natural company and their makeup rocks too.

I also love taking detox baths with baking soda, apple cider vinegar and salts. Baths really help the skin stay soft.

I use Ella and Mila's nail polish. I like it as far as natural organic products go. They chip easily though so if anyone has any recommendations that would be appreciated :).

sunshinex's picture

oooh, what's the mixture for the detox bath? How much of each do you put in? Never done that before but it sounds nice :-)

Kiwi_koala's picture

I use about 2 cups of apple cider vinegar. First, I put about half a tsp of vitamin c powder in the tub. The vitamin c gets rid of the chlorine. You don't want to take hot detox baths with chlorine. It's better to start slow with detoxing. You can get dizzy in the tub. I would start with a cup and make sure you're well hydrated.

For baking soda I use 4 cups and for Epsom or pink salt I use a cup. I would honestly start slow though. It can be kind of intense at first when you're not used to it. The bath isn't supposed to be super hot for the epsom salt but it is for the others.

Naked palettes. I have all of them. And ManEater Mascara. I used to love the STILA lip gloss but they changed it so I started buying the STILA sparkle glass and Tarte lipstick and then I have the Avengers lip glosses (which are really nice). Dry Shampoo as well. And Philosophy body wash.

My 17 year old? She is the queen of makeup. She is taking cosmetology courses and owns all the makeup lol! Morphe especially. Her entire room is decked out in hair and makeup stuff. She recently did her own extensions for prom and they look great.

One major thing I forgot... LUSH bath bombs! I have a nice big glass jar (it looks like a fishbowl lol) in my bathroom that I keep full of lush bath bombs at all times. I think I'm spending $100 a month on that *ROFL*

Kiwi_koala's picture

Oh my gosh. That's too funny. Whole foods has bath bombs maybe they would be slightly cheaper lol.

Take deep soak baths again Chef made the master bedroom with a gigantic walk in River Rock shower which is nice with all the spray heads however we do have a jacuzzi tub and the switch is broken on it for the bubbles ...which I mean what's the point?  Chef could fix it but he is too busy working on other people's houses as a contractor

After 40 I suddenly started breaking out again like a teenager. So I use proactive at night.

In the also use Roc Retinal and collagen treatments in the am.

I am addicted to mineral makeup and lash extension mascara.

Although I workout 6x a week and eat very healthy. I refuse to eat so restrictive I can't enjoy life. So I have had cool sculpting done on my abdomen were I had trouble spots after 40 and have never been happier. It was worth every penny and didn't involve any recovery time.
