Hmm have you considered trying a nice wig instead? It's a lot less damaging to your hair. I had a friend who had several wigs she'd switch between depending on her mood. I dye my hair myself, but I use a permanent hair dye (L'Oreal). My cousin has used several semi-permanents/temporary dyes. I don't remember all of the brands she tried, but I do know that it was easier for her to wash out the lighter-colored dyes; if you're going darker, it's possible that you might stain your hair a little, even without a permanent dye. Plus it's just not great for your hair, and if you have longer, thinner hair (like me), it can cause some major split ends. I still do it though. I do it myself because it's cheaper to manage all the touch-ups, but if you're only planning on having it for a short while without wanting to touch it up, then I'd suggest having a professional do it for the best results. They might also have more insight on which dyes are easier to wash out.

Overit - my only suggestion is go to a professional - do not do it yourself - they have the temporary dyes - you could also get low lights that would darken your hair - but go to a pro!!

I agree with Kim...even though the do-it yourself haircolor say semi-permanent or temporary...color gets into the folicle of your hair. Semipermanent haircolor just fades more quickly but never really entirely washes out especially when you are going darker. Go to Sally's and see what they might have. I am not impressed with haircolor that is sold over the counter (kind you can buy anywhere)but Sally's has good products. Make sure you buy a developer the correct strength as well. Low volume for dark colors and higher volume for lightening.

Semipermanent hair color is all I use to color my hair (& I go red) & although it fades, it never truly washes out. IT is just gentler on the hair. A temporary rinse or shampoo will wash out. BUT especially with blonde hair the more products you put on it the darker it gets. My sister was a bleach blonde, kept messing with her hair & now it's close to dirty blonde & she's not happy. ive never done semi permanent except with colors like pink, blue, purple, etc. so i really dont know about those with regular colors, but semi permanent pink is still pink even after it fades out of being vibrant. ive been dying and cutting my own hair for about 10 years now - everything from blue-black and pink pixie cuts to real long and strawberry blonde ( i get bored easy lol). If youve got a color in your hair now that has a red hue to it, i would say that you should get a color remover (color oops works pretty well) and do that first. Whatever color you have in your mind that you want, pick one out that on the box looks two shades lighter; they usually end up being a lot darker and it is a lot easier to go darker than lighter if it ends up being too light. I know they make dyes specifically to cover greys but i dont know if they do in semi permanents or not. also, i always get a conditioning mask for after cause it can really take a toll on your hair.

I always go for temporary color and have different shampoo for that. If you use the normal shampoo the color goes away also your hair becomes a bit rough.
