Christmas breakfast!

purpledaisies's picture

What does everyone do for christmas breakfast? Our tradition is that I always make something new each year and it has to be something we can hold in our hands and eat while everyone opens their stockings! This year I'm going to make a breakfast pizza. I have never done it before so we will see. Biggrin

I do a breakfast egg and sausage casserole with cheese (and french bread cut up in it). It's super easy to do the night before and then toss in the oven first thing in the morning. Side of biscuits and fruit salad.

Are we perhaps related? Most of my relatives, any myself, all try very hard to incorporate alcohol into the day as early as possible and in manners that make it very appropriate. Not on a workday or anything, but I think you probably knwo what I mean. For example, Vodka at 9 am?! Alcoholism! Bloody Mary at 9 am? A good time! Baily's on the rocks when you first wake up? That's a baaad sign. Baily's in your coffee? A little treat to start the day on a good note! Smile

Bwahaha, yes we are related. We had a distant cousin getting married and heard through the grapevine that it was going to be a dry wedding. Seriously, the reaction from my family was equal to telling them that they had a death sentace. It was ridiculous. Naturally, everyone (80something grandparents as well) showed up to the reception fashionably late as we stopped by a bar to consume as many drinks as possible as well as pick up some contraband to sneak it! Ridiculous! I was just having a conversation with my cousin not long ago about how I thought behavior like this was totally normal until I got married and DH pointed out what lushes we are!(But *fun*!)

I love hearing what everyone else does for holidays. I have a friend that seems to be a scrooge this time of year b/c his ex left him and he has their kids. She comes and goes when she wants. I need a way to cheer him up. He is single too.

I have to say this blog made me sad Sad I don't have an Xmas morning tradition Sad BUT! Now I am inspired and am going to put some thought into it and start one! I really like the idea of making something that you can hold while opening gifts. That's a really good idea. I make breakfast "cupcakes" sometimes and those would be really easy to have prepared the night before and to hold while opening. Thanks for this blog!

Silly I started that so that the kids would eat and not sit at the table staring at the presents. So I compromised and told them they could eat while opening their stockings then it got to where they were getting things on their stockings so I started with the holding something in their hand that was not very messy. But now that they are teens I'm not as worried about them getting things on their stockings. Smile
