so sad for SD....
I am so sad for my SD18 today. She graduated from high school today, and not ONE single person from BM's family, including BM, bothered to show up for her graduation. She says she doesn't really care, but I can see the pain in her face. I feel so bad for her.
What mother would NOT go to her own childs graduation? I sent them all invites.
The worst part of it all, was that SD18 had to go to BMs to get a paper signed for her to get financial aid for college today. The only thing BM said to her was, "oh, I thought that was tomorrow". But, offered NO apologies or even said congrats. BM's mother never even spoke to SD. So very sad! I am so mad for her I want to scream.

Glad Sd has support from you
Glad Sd has support from you and wish her success inpite of her stupid mother. Your the best mom!!
I know how you feel, it's not
I know how you feel, it's not fun to watch them ache for a BM's love or attention. I can hardly stand my SS12 but I am kind and caring and I do things for him and I go to his special events and take the photos and watch his face light up as he recives an award and promotions, I know he isn't looking for my face in the crowd though he is looking for his BM's and the sad part is he already knows before he looks that she isn't going to be there, because it's not all about her. what kind of Mother doesn't want her own children, or isn't there for the important stuff ???? just pathetic!!!!
To your newly graduated Daughter, my congratulations, and I wish her all the best in her future adventures!!!
Your SD's family kind of
Your SD's family kind of sucks, Sia. Big time.
I know she was disappointed,
I know she was disappointed, Sia, but YOU and DH were there for her- AS ALWAYS, and in time, she will come to realize that this is the way things will be, as hard as that reality may be for her.
I mean, were you really SURPRISED by this? By everything you have told us in the past about BM and her family, it seems to me that this is just the same crap/different day from them. And just because it was SDs graduation day, it doesn't matter to BM and her family. And SD, as she matures, will also understand this sad fact.
My ex is the same way. Absent and disappointing to his sons. When my oldest son graduated from HS in '08, he didn't come. He made some lame excuse about it. I mean, what FATHER doesn't come to his SON'S HS graduation??? Oh yeah- my POS ex!
But we made sure my son had everyone there (from MY FAMILY) who loved him and supported him. My son KNOWS who is always there for him. And he knows who isn't.
It's a sad reality in his life, but life isn't always pleasant.
But trust me, Sia, I know it totally sucks to see "that look" of disappointment in their eyes for the moment- you hurt FOR them.
Ugh, this makes me sooo sad
Ugh, this makes me sooo sad for your SD, too. Even though this was no surprise, I think everyone in a situation like this holds out some hope that the person (BM) will change. The other thing that makes me so sad is that it will always be a dark cloud over every event or happy moment in SD's life...always waiting, hoping that the one person they wish for to be there will show up. As SD gets older I'm sure she will show more and more appreciation for what you and your family have done for her.
That's horrible Sia. I feel
That's horrible Sia. I feel bad for her too. Such a milestone in life and nobody gave it any thought. Horrible. She's lucky to have you in her life so you can show her what a mother is SUPPOSED to be.
