Bio-Parent Translator...What Would You Add to the Database?
So...I'm probably procrastinating right now...but I'm enjoying the teenage stepkid boot camp game and thought of another one thanks to a comment from Futuro:
Your SO says SS needs new "mommy" stat??!
Translation: "I don't really want to parent, so I need a mommy for SS so that I can go on about my life while this new mommy helps pay my bills and does all the housework including mothering SS so I can live my life. Oh, and I like sex, too."

I don't know whether to laugh or cry...what do you think?
List of YSD Needs From BM
So, once again, BM has sent a long-winded, meandering email to DH about a bunch of seemingly non-related stuff...but what it all boils down to is she wants to get some cash out of us. Again.
It's not enough that we 'split' YSDs medical bills with BM this past fall...after DH's parents paid 90% of the costs for YSD after insurance in one lump sum...she had the gall to ask us to go halfsies on the rest, which was about $750. Less than the $1000 of medical expenses she's supposed to cover before splitting, according to the CO.

YSD Didn't Come Over this Weekend
So. YSD was supposed to come for visitation this weekend and didn't.
I asked DH about it and he was cagey...then told me that he texted and didn't get a response but I'm welcome to reach out to her if I want to.
I've always had a good relationship with YSD, though in recent years she's gotten crazy annoying. But I don't feel like I should be getting in the middle of this.
I pressed a little with DH and he told me that he expressed disapproval of her on-again, off-again boyfriend when they were having lunch and talking about the schedule, and YSD left in a huff.

At Long Last...There's Light at the End of the Tunnel!
So, while I was at work yesterday...apparently YSD came over and they worked out the visitation schedule together. I saw all the dates coming through on the calendar (phone alerts) while they were meeting and eventually had to turn it off so as not to look with each ding.
Anyway. We went out last night and DH mentions that YSD has decided 'not to continue visitation after she turns 18.'
Horrible, Annoying Christmas Dinner and Presents w/Skids. Now DH Not Talking to Me.
So. The skids came over for a dinner last night and for our present exchange. Only YSD was home for Christmas Day this year, so we pushed it back a couple days to when they'd all be here.
We made steaks and these great potatoes that I do and some veggies...w/pie and ice cream for dessert.
Anyway. DH was really testy with me right from the beginning. I think because, in his view, I was "hiding out" in the kitchen while the skids were here (i.e. I was cooking.)
So Ready for the Holidays to be Over!
Feeling really sad and blue today...for no good reason, really.

If you have grown / teen skids nearby...do they just drop by? How do you feel about it?
So...YSD just stopped by with a friend for about 30 minutes on her way home from school. She's a senior this year so she gets out around noon.
No text. No asking. DH and I were both surprised. I have presents I'm wrapping spread out on the dining room table, too...so I had to quickly yell at her from my office not to go in there. She said OK and went down to see her dad in the basement from the outside entrance instead.
Oh...OSD Should Do This Clothing Service That TwoOfUs Is Doing!
So.
Trying to figure out the best/shortest way to tell this story...
DH was talking on the phone the other day about kid gifts, plans, etc. OSD has moved with her boyfriend to a town a few hours away and has been applying for receptionist-type jobs part-time while she finishes up the last two years of school. She was mentioning a few weeks ago that she still dresses a bit like a kid, so DH and I have gotten her a couple dress/skirt/slack wardrobe pieces to get her started in a more professional setting.
Tampons in the Trash
Small vent.
Why, oh why, oh why, oh why...can SD not wrap her used tampons and applicators before putting them in the trash? It's almost as though she places them gently right on the very top of the trash on purpose.
I really don't get it. Being the oldest of 6, sharing a bathroom with younger sibs, I guess I felt very private about it and wrapped then buried everything.
