GF’s mother turned her away…
:jawdrop:
I came home last night GF’s car is parked in front of the house; SS’s car is not there.
DH came home shortly after I did... I checked BioKid’s homework and set about making dinner as usual, while BioKid set the table and DH decompressed from his hour and a half commute home from work. (Happy serene household)
SS came home in a pleasant enough mood. It was his last day at a job that hasn’t been paying him well, and he will be starting a new job, with better pay and benefits and opportunity to make extra money catering parties on his off hours. I was making more than enough dinner to feed the three of us, so I asked SS if he and the GF would be interested in having dinner with us tonight. He ate, GF is with her Mom (I had no idea, her car was out front, I figured she was still hiding in the room)
Life is still good.
About 7:30 when we were clearing dishes, SS comes downstairs and rushes past us, red-faced without saying a word (not usual)
My husband and I give each other the “uh-oh” look, because we figure SOMETHING’S wrong
He texts SS “everything okay?”
No answer
At 8:30 I went to take out the trash, and sitting on the deck, by the front door, is the baby’s car seat and GF’s keys.
I was like WTF? I brought them in and told my DH about it… ‘That’s strange’
Texted SS again, “you wanna let me know what’s going on?”
This time he answers “this is my problem, I’ll deal with it”
Okayyyyy
9-ish, I go outside to have a smoke (don’t hate me, I need a stress release!)
While I’m out there, SS comes home with GF and baby in tow.
GF is wearing no coat and has her usual two layers of tank tops on
I said “GF, aren’t you’ freezing? You have no coat on”
(Genuine concern, I don’t want the kid to get sick)
She doesn’t even LOOK at me and keeps walking, my SS apologetically answers for her
“Her coat is at her Mom’s”
I came back in from my smoke and SS is downstairs pouring himself a soda. I told him I brought in the car seat and stuff and he spills his guts.
GF’s Mom picked her up today, they hung out and GF dropped the bomb on her mother that she wants to move back “home” with her.
Um, the mother hasn’t had an actual “home” since she sold her house and dumped her pregnant daughter on our door step. The woman has been living with first a ‘boyfriend’ then with family and then her deceased mothers home (which her sisters were trying to sell) and only for the last few months, rented a two bedroom apartment for her and her high-school aged son.
Well, apparently the “mother” of the GF told her that moving back with her wasn’t an option, and the GF and her mother got into a fight, and GF called SS to come and pick her up.
She tries to leave, then calls SS to come rescue her from a fight with her mother about leaving SS with the baby.
That’s all the info I got, I think that’s all he had. SS is stunned. I am stunned. I didn’t think she’d actually try to leave.
I personally don’t care if she leaves… it’d be one less body taking showers, keeping the heat turned up while nobody else is home, using electricity to keep the lights and TV running during hours that the house would be otherwise empty.
I have the feeling that to an extent that maybe SS is beginning to feel the same way, but he cares for his son and doesn’t want to be a ‘weekend dad’
This weekend, DH and I are going out of town, so we’ll be leaving the two of them to themselves. SS has a rare weekend where he has no scheduled work hours (unless he picked up some on the side, for extra cash) It’ll be interesting to see what if anything transpires over this weekend. It’ll be interesting to see what I’m coming home to tonight!
(I just don’t get it… why invite all this drama into your life, when just doing the ‘right’ thing would make everyone happy?)

Well considering what a lazy ass she is I can't blame her mother for saying no.
You need to figure out a way to get rid of her too so you can have your sanity back.

Oh, forgot to mention, the GF's mother is the one that dumped the car seat and the keys at the front door, without telling anyone that they were there. Of course, she didn't bother to leave the GF's coat though, did she? (I have no love for GF's mother, she's a skank)
The mother may be bad news,
The mother may be bad news, but I can understand not wanting her and a baby back into my house. She is 21 she is no longer her mom's problem...
Awe dang.. You almost got rid
Awe dang.. You almost got rid of her. Would have been a little sad for SS but better for your whole house hold. Maybe now would be a good time to have a little "talk" with her about expectations and responsibility in your home!!
