Getting Bent

So.... this is more of a life rant then anything else.

My mom is getting married for the 4th time on Tuesday at 6pm. A bit inconvenient for mostly everyone. I am the officiant and have a lot of responsibility on my shoulders. Not to mention the fact that they want me to spend the weekend doing wedding stuff. Now, normally this would be a fun time full of nothing but fun girlie stuff... Let's explain why its not that for me.

I am on a 'fast track' for school. I take 6 online classes every 12 weeks. It is split into two sections. So I have three classes every 6 weeks. Those classes were once 16 week programs, that get smooched down into 6 weeks. I spend roughly about 10 hours a day 6 days a week on the computer doing homework. During finials week, which just happens to be this week (my weeks go from thursday til wednesday) I spend close to 14 hours a day all week doing homework and finial projects and finial tests. Doing this I have shrinked my graduation time from 3 years away to 9 months from now. My husband and children are super supportive of this.

Now, with the wedding and all my responsibility for the wedding, two of my 7 days are completely taken up and there can be no homework for those days. The wedding is about two hours away so Monday night we go up there, and wont get home until late Tuesday night. My mom has told me several times this is her time and I need to leave my school stuff at home. My husband doesn't like my mom as it is, and thinks she is being extremely selfish and needs to have more understanding. I feel like I am torn between keeping my good grades and passing my classes, and doing the things she wants me to do. They want me to go out of town this weekend and I had to cancle. Of course my mom and sister in law are super up set but I just can't.

So, I got mom in one ear nagging me, my hubby in the other telling me I shouldn't go at all. And my teachers in my face to get all my projects done. I can't freaking do everything and I don't know what is going to have to give. We pay out of pocket for my classes, after books it is almost 2 grand a class. Essentially people don't get married all the time, and I am the one who is doing the marrying. I have to have B's in each class or I have to take it again (I am barely maintaining a B right now). I have never been bent by an elephant but I think this is what it feels like.

School comes BEFORE your Mom's FOURTH wedding. Chances are this marriage won't last that long based on the fact that its number 4, but your degree will last you the rest of your life. Not trying to offend you but this is how I see it. I know she is your mom but she ia being unreasonable.

Don't let these SELFISH people make you feel bad for doing what is right for you and your family.
