Little Evil on Netflix

Has anyone watched this yet? The main character, a new stepdad, finds out that his stb6 stepson is the Antichrist. It is pretty funny but focuses on stepdad's POV. The stepdads make comments such as (not verbatim) "all (s)kids are evil and out to ruin your lives", "I (stepdad) have to deal with spoiled bratty kids when they come home from Disney dad's house", and all of the stepdads are expected to be a replacement daddy and love the skids as their own.

It was kind of making me uncomfortable but it was just supposed to be funny. There was even a funny lesbian "dad" who reminded me of Melissa McCarthy. It's funny how I posted about this same thing a couple days ago and happened to watch this movie. Stepdads are glorified for "stepping up" and expected to be new daddy and love skids and have to "deal" with Disney parented kids when they come back from bio dad's. Of course, the bio mothers make comments such as "why is it so hard for men?", etc. and are always the victim ie. perfect parent who sacrifices so much to raise their precious snowflake while bio dad is just Disney dad. Sickening.

I just watched this last night! I thought it was kind of a neat point of view. Even my husband laughed at the mother's expectations of the stepdad when she was pushing him to play daddy right away, so I guess my husband has learned well over the past couple of years!

It was pretty humorous and I liked the actors but it's just strange how (in a lot of cases) mom is allowed to have a replacement daddy but dog forbid dad does the same. I don't agree with substitute parents unless the child is adopted by the stepparent or the bio is totally out of the picture and the stepparent agrees to step up. Obviously in this movie, the child didn't have a "father".

Also I loved the stepparent therapy session! I was rolling when the guy was saying how skid shit in his dresser. Then he said "you don't think I'll shit in his backpack?" Ahahaha

I didn't watch the show yet, but as far as what OP said about how BM can get a replacement daddy for her kids while biodad isn't supposed to do the same... I think it's because being a BM is viewed as sacred. Second wife always has the connotation of being younger, an interloper, a home wrecker, promiscuous, etc. even when none of those things are true. People think single dads are completely led by their weiners, while BM's look for security. Maybe there is some truth to it in some situations, but I don't think it's the way thing predominantly are. Nonetheless, stereotype lives on.

Edited to add: I swear I don't actually refer to them as "weiners" in real life.

I get that a mother-child bond is like nothing else but the mother (both parents, really) need to respect the other parent and facilitate a healthy relationship.

You're right about the SM stereotype- I am the younger woman but BM cheated and DH left so he therefore "abandoned" them. As you said, moms need security and dads are just looking for a hot, young number to screw... with their weiners Blum 3

When xH got remarried he was looking for someone to take care of his 4 children. She was younger than me but not by much. He married a lady who had 3 young daughters so he thought *instant mommy* to his herd. He dumped all parenting resposibilities on her and now she had 7. Their marriage didn't last long. Towards the end of their relationship during a visit she demanded that I pay her daycare costs. Guess xH wasn't compensating her enough LOL! Funny that I never resented her but just felt sorry for the mess that she got herself into.

As for the movie it was hilarious. Lucas's sulky evil attitude reminds me so much of grown ss32 who I secretly refer to as being "Lord of the Underworld" in his former life. DH always was pushing his grown sons on me and expecting me to *try harder* with them. It got to the point that I was being dictated the shopping that I must do for the stoner that was camped out on our couch. "Buy a big bag of burritos, M&M's, juice..."
