How to find a good counselor

Does anyone have any advice on finding a good counselor? I want to take my DH but I need to make sure the counselor has experience working with stepfamilies and understands the disney dad parenting and the unique stepfamily issues. The last thing I want to get is someone with no knowledge or understanding of this who validates DH's ridiculous behavior.

You'll want to be sure that the counselor you do select specializes in step families or you will be wasting your time.

I found ours by googling a step family counselor in our area.

referral is always the best route. picking out from the yellow pages is a disaster.

does your or your husband's employer offer an Employee Assistance Program (EAP)? Those are usually a great source for reputable referrals AND tehy will usually ensure they match you with someone who takes yoru insurance. You usally will get a few sessions for free (no-copays).
