Forums:

I blogged this, but didnt get any responses so hoping I'll have more luck here... we're looking to go to court and apply for a residency order. We are in the uk and my understanding is that the system here is biased giving the bm more rights. Im hoping to find anybody who has been through it or is going through it to give me a better insight into how it all works and hopefully we can get as far as we can before needing to instruct a solicitor. .. any advice will be welcome x

Hi thanks for your replies.
We are all uk citizens. Born n raised (cept dad whos Scottish) ....
2 kids, ss7 sd10.
Mum is bi polar and abusive to well most people, but lets just concentrate on the skids... she also has issues with alcohol. The police, school, gp and children's services have all been informed of her behaviour (hitting the children, not feeding them, getting drunk around them, drink driving with them (or trying to) being emotionally abusive, threatening access to their father is they miss behave, recently telling ss7 to call her sexy and that he's going to die..... the list is endless. Ss7 also seems to show signs of mental/emotional unrest. He cant cope with most things, lashes out and cries at the drop of a hat, even if he's having fun, he cant cope and cries about it saying he doesn't like it! Sd10 takes her issues out by being controlling and spiteful to other children, as her mother is to her. She says she wants to live with us and not her mother any more.
We need to get those kids out of that situation, but despite all of these things going on the authorities have done nothing. They've questioned the mother and decided that its a domestic issue, point scoring between us and her. Our only option is to bring all this up in court and let cafcass talk to the children and hope for the best... but I know it's really difficult and we've been told its likely to take 3 yrs and cost £22-30THOUSAND !! And that we most likely wont be granted residency despite our concerns. We need all the help and advice we can get...
