Tomorrow we celebrate the END Of CS!

Still Have Hope's picture

CS ended a month ago. I had told DH that we should go out for a fancy dinner to celebrate. DH suggested a weekend away instead. I couldn't say yes fast enough. My mother is coming to stay with the bios for 3 days. We are going to a bed & breakfast in a small mountain town 2 hours from home. Friends recommended this place telling us of the quaint cobblestone streets lined with little shops, cafes and a fabulous bakery. We plan to visit a colonial era museum, go to a village arts & crafts fair, and enjoy some beautiful scenery. We have dinner reservations Saturday night at a fancy (very expensive Wink ) restaurant. So fellow SMs hang in there. It took 15 years but we are finally free. And wow what a great way to spend that first months reclaimed $$. I have to go pack now!

SD#1 barely graduated high school so no college for her. She does have a full time job. We bought her a car which she totaled in less than a year. Then we gave her my car after I got a new one. She totaled that in less than a week. So DH says she is on her own now.
SD#2 is getting a combination of loans & scholarships for college. We told her if she finishes in 4 years with a degree that we will help with the loans. We told her she needs to find a summer job to save for spending $. BM said having a fun summer was more important so BM can deal with her spending $ needs this fall.
We are saving in anticipation of making good on our promise to help with the loans. But SD is very immature & irresponsible (scholarships were not for her academic record but for her families' affiliation with the college she chose) and I don't see her graduating. Hope I am wrong.

Helping with the loans, if she completes a degree...that's pure genius! I'm so glad I saw this, that's perfect and I wouldn't have ever come up with that on my own. If that doesn't motivate her nothing ever will. Thanks!!

Congrats - I cant wait myself! We have 5 years, 10 months, 24 days left to go! Cant wait for BM to get off our payroll. She will be living under a bridge when it happens because she cant support herself without DH's child support. She's in for a real awakening.

NICE!!

I swear that day will NEVER come for GG as it's 21 mandatory (13 more years to go at LEAST) and then beyond for "special needs" kids, which the Behemoth gladly classifies the skids as to get out of parenting.

Congratulations! I'm incredibly jelous. It sounds like you're going to have an amazing time. I'm still so far away I can't even imagine that light at the end of the tunnel.

Congrats! SD16 turns 18 in the middle of the school year so we have to wait until graduation in June 2013. That's okay though - i can handle 23 more months....that will be sweet then!! Still have 9 1/2 years for SS9 but that's manageable. Smile

Let us know how you wind up celebrating! Smile

16 more months for the younger Skid concerning the official CS.......until DH stops cash enabling SD21 and although I cannot bear to think about it yet, the younger skid probably...... NEVER.......( sigh !)

YAY! YAY! YAY! September 30th is our last day of support for the SS17- turns 18 October 1st and SS14 lives with us! So she gets no more money.

SD6.. we have an eternity left it seems for this one!

But congrats and enjoy!

We have 7 years left but I can tell you right now that once that stops bm is in for a rude awaking as she has not worked at all this entire time and doesn't plan on it either. She will not be eligible for ANY assistance either. wonder where she will live and how will she afford anything??? HA HA While we have worked our butts off to save and 401k and stuff we will be very well set. We plan to travel some. Can't wait.

Blog hog today.

Today a co-worker brought in his children. His oldest is three. Another co-worker was goofing around with him and asking when the young lad will be driving.

Co-worker responded "in thirteen more years"

And I thought, it'll be 13 more years till the last one of GG's is due to be off CS. And then again, I"m sure the Behemoth will find a way for it to go up to 26.
