Great Stepson...at least something is going right

After a kinda crappy weekend, where we were all on edge (the fridge went out, my Sd15 had friends over and acted like an ass, life happened, etc,) my SS14 came up to me last night and said, "Mom, I'm sorry I was back talking and acting like a jerk this weekend." We talked about it and I told him I didn't think I acted much better, and appologized as well. We then watched a movie. He also thanked me for taking care of him...he's a good kid.

He said he didn't understand why his sister is the way she is, but he knows that's her and she'll always be unhappy. If a 14 year old boy can accept this why can't I?

I get along great with both my SS's 23 and 14..It's the girl. She's like a dark cloud for all of us, even her father. She's never happy, never content, always readyf or a fight and the first to lash out.

My SS23 calls once a week to check on me, no his dad or brother, just me. He also stops to see me at work about once a month, if he's driving by and my car is here. He's a great kid, married, responsible, etc. He uses me for his unbiased, not a parent, sounding board when he gets mixed signals from Mom, Dad and the In-Laws.
