Att ALL PARENTS - wat is with the hot pants?

Ok so im noticing there is alot of marketing towards young girls and young women regarding 'hot pants' (really really tinny tight just under the bum shorts)

I never thought of myself as conservative untill I walked my SD's to the pools and men were staring at them (MAKES ME FEEL SICK)

So i have banned the 'hot pants' and DH agrees even more than i do regarding the issue.

However I am not hated and BM supports the hot pants.

Am i extreme? I never have thought of myself as conservative but i just cant bring myself to allow the girls to wear them, they are unneccessary and well in my time (Im only 29) 'hot pants' were for the tarty girls at the night club'

Hrmmmmm I guess in context it doesnt bother me 'ie at the pools, beach, '

But just on the street? please ladies and gentlemen do tell your opinion, even if its supportive of young girls wearing hot pants... interesting to know what people think

I think it depends on the girl's body.

My SD14 and her sisters (17 and 24)wear those shorts. SD has hips and a butt. Her sisters are super thin. SD is a size 14. Sisters are 2 & 4. The shorts look cute on the sisters, but not on SD.

I am with you. It's funny that I am so liberal in many ways and yet so conservative in others. Hot pants are a NO! I remember skid being dressed like a little hooker when she was little and her BM thinking it was cute...17 with a baby and another on the way, and I guess what I said it would lead to was soooo true. Sad

OH YEHHHHHHHHHHHHHH !!!!!!! im predicting it all in my head girl! seriously i can see this happening and DH not coping! I can cope i guess because i am liberal but not liberal about HOT PANTS!
So in other words im right about this being an issue. Seriously a kid skates by and SD9 is already planning marriage and babies.

I dont even think they look cute on thin girls! I believe there is a time and place for those shorts, not in everyday life - not when your not on the beach or pools!
Interesting perspective though! I HATE HOT PANTS!!!!

My SD8 came back from BM's last year with ONE item...it was a fantabulous pair of "booty" shorts. Yup, that's the ONE thing that Nasty figured SD needed.

She is ONLY allowed to wear said shorts under her dresses because no one wants to see her butt cheeks.

FYI, she wears shorts under her dresses & skirts because she tends to sit spread eagle &/or lift the clothing above her head...it's odd, I know.

SD16 LOVES to post pics of herself on FB wearing these types of shorts...while wrestling with GROUPS of boys...LOVELY! She doesn't come to visit though so it's not anything I have to avert my eyes from in public.
