This weekend SS17 turns 18

Tonight DH and I are taking him to dinner while SS13 will be at baseball game with a friend. We aren't doing gifts, so just going to give him a check for $500 to go towards "stuff" while he is at college.

I have to say he has turned out to be one hell of great young man. Well rounded, caring, giving and extremely loving. He gets all of this from DH Smile The only thing I see he got from her is his height. She is an amazon!

DH is gearing up, collecting all the documentation from over the years and making appointment with a lawyer to go back to court about CS. I know, I know, he should only have to go to court with birth certificate, etc since divorce papers say CS until 18 but BM chiro hubby LOVES to get expensive lawyers and she will try to fight it. Makes no sense to me since he will be living at college that DH is paying $11k a year but thats how she rolls. Sad thing is she ALWAYS comes out smelling like a rose and I have a bad feeling that once again he will get it up the ass.

Anywho - Happy Friday Steppers!! Hope everyone has a peaceful weekend. Its going to be in the 70's here! YAY!

Wow, my bride is a hair under 6'0 and she gets a lot of attention on her height. I am 6'1 so we are far from ideal dance patners. When she puts on heels... I am screwed. Sad

6'5 is tall, particularly for a woman.

I'm hoping its that easy but this is NJ and well seems like they make a complete different sets of rules. To be honest I do not look at or get involved. This is his making and he will deal with it

i grew up being the tallest girl in my class - my second job, i was the shortest! had to ask for help reaching stuff lol! now i'm the tallest again, go figure. and i'm 5'6 (but 5'9 to 5'10 with shoes i normally wear).

"Stuff" will be food for sure. We got him the meal plan for college but he plays football and eats what seems like every hour. He was into video games when he was 11 but not so much now unless SS13 wants to play WII and its always baseball or football.

Oh and my sister in law swears that if you walk uphill long enough the baby will come Blum 3

It depends on your state. Some will end CS automatically upon the Skid qualifying out from under the CS element of a CO. I think it is more difficult with multiple Skid situations where the Skids phase out over time as the older ones DQ from CS. NJ can be a tough one. I worked there for 6 years and had many employees who were victims of that holy hell of a CS state.

Better to push the issue than let it ride and have to pay for something that is not required IMHO.

Interestingly the Sperm Clan never moved to have CS reduced when SS turned 12 and we were no longer eligible to have the NCP help pay for day care. The paperwork said either or both parties had to initiate and of course we didn't. Not our problem. If they wanted to keep paying, we were fine with that. So they paid 6yrs of $40/mo for daycare that they were not required to pay for and we were not using. I chuckled about that periodically over that 6yrs.

Equally interesting was when they went tribal on getting CS ended on SS's 18th b-day. They had tried to get CS ended when he graduated from HS but their state is an "18 or HS graduation whichever is later" state.

Sperm GrandHag was pissed when she was told CS would not end until SS's 18th b-day which was ~3mos after he graduated. She called my bride on the final bitch shrieking banshee call fest "They won't let me stop paying CS. But it's not fair. He has graduated and is spending the whole summer with us. Why do we have to keep paying CS??? Whaaaaaaaaaa!" The answer was classic. "It is not fair that your idiot free breeding waste of skin son has spawned 4 out of wedlock children by three different women and not contributed a penny to support any of them. You and Sperm GrandPa chose to pay the CS obligation for your useless POS waste of skin son so ... STFU and keep writing those checks and don’t be late ... GrandHag!!!!" }:)

You should stay on top of this. Some kids do not graduate until a year or two later than they should and the NCP will often be on the hook until graduation even if the Skid's crappy performance is in large part due to the ineptitude of the CP. I had an employee that was never able to recover overpayment when his youngest finally graduated from HS. He was told it was his responsibility to manage his CS order and if he wanted his money back he had to ask the CP for it.

In our case the Sperm Clan should have been on the hook for 4more years of CS paid directly to SS while he was in college. He chose to not nail their balls to the wall for that.

They are lucky. I would have.

Happy birthday to your SS. I hope he is moving on to adventurous things after graduation.

Thanks Rags. He graduates in June and DH is trying for a court date in July.

I have heard horror stories from other good fathers that are there more than EOWE and are never in arrears and they just get screwed!

Again, I do not read up on it nor get involved. In the perfect world that DH would love to live in is that since he is paying college and extras for both children that he would not have to pay CS for SS13 anymore, but would continue the insurance on both and the $1,000's for sports, etc. BM is not contributing to college or any sports activities. He will not know what has to be done until he speaks to a lawyer to advise him the best way. In NJ we do not "assume" anything
