Ways to cope
Forums:
I am wondering what other people do to cope with the unpleasent feelings that comes with step life?
The feelings of stress, anxiety, jealousy, anger, etc. I find I get fixated on something and have a hard time letting it go. I'm just wondering what other people do with those feelings. I like taking BS for walks to clear my head, but as the weather gets colder I won't be able to as much as he is 4 months.
I walk my dog...a lot. Can't
I walk my dog...a lot. Can't deal with the bullshit whining and carry on from the kids. Two boys they fight non-stop, particulaly as their Dad mostly uses me as a baby sitter and a maid while he concentrates on starting a new business working long hours. I support him, but can't help feeling resentment about being used like this. I work full time too, when do I get some "Me" time. I'm not their mother, and he has made it clear that I am not to do any parenting. So another walk with the dog is the go.
at a certain point you will
at a certain point you will learn to disengage. all the way or some of the way. you get sick of being used as a surrogate stand in for the bm. you are not he bm and dont need this.
be true to yourself and your own happiness. if dh wont buy you something because he is being frugal for the skids, buy yourself that special something. go to the gym, concentrate on pets or your bio kids. you dont need the headaches.
As the others have said
As the others have said physical activity outside the home is the best way to clear the brain and obviously is good for the body. Don't worry about running or other types of activities walking is all that is necessary. Start by going around the block every 6 or 7 days a week and double it the next week etc. While outside concentrate on what your seeing in the neighborhood. If you have a dog or kid take them along.
Of course you can do the other exercises if you wish. If the weather is bad where you live get a stationary bicycle to substitute or stair step machine both of which can be used to supplement your walking. A treadmill is good also, Look for used ones on Craigslist.
I find things I like to do
I find things I like to do for myself...and wine. Lots of wine...or beer when it's hot in the summer....or liquor when it is a particularly bad day and I can sit on my deck alone.
Otherwise I golf, I come here and vent, I jog, call a girlfriend. Oh step life sure can suck st times! Sorry you too are having a hard time.
I take the dog for a walk. On
I take the dog for a walk. On rare occasion, I find an excuse to go to a store (any store), get in the car, drive down the road, and SCREAM.
