New smart TV

After waiting forever we got big brand new huge smart TV, and it so irks me that Kids feel like they can come over or come home from school and monopolize it. My ssons used to claim the remote like it was something connected to their hands. A spare penis as you will... I complained to DH and he told me to just tell them it isn't their choice to make. I felt awkward having to tell the boys this because I was brought up to hand over the remote and get out of 'parents' chair. Ssons never were taught this is the right thing to do.
I asked MIL and she said I was right. Her son may have forgotten but when their father was home NO ONE sat in his chair. You got up as soon as he enterded the room and re-seated yourself.
So one day I did it. I walked in after preparing dinner and said "Excuse me, my chair and my remote, please." They looked at me like I was nuts. I repeated myself and still no movement. So thought "Hmm do I get DH or handle this myself?" Option 2.
I lent over and pulled the cord from the wall. Anyone else hear the wailing and crying? DH comes in the room and I told him what happened. He looked at them and said "You heard her. Now MOVE!" And they never did it again.
