THEY'RE ON THEIR WAY !!!

The evil child just called and they're on their way!!!

CHECK - All my personal stuff in each room is boxed up and put away.
CHECK - alcohol in the fridge.
CHECK - smokes in my coat.
CHECK CHECK CHECK - reminded my hubby about the dogs.
CHECK - fake smile on the face because I'm so happy they're here.
CHECK - start deep breathing.

Whenever this adult child comes to my house, she turns the TV off because she doesn't allow her kids to watch TV so therefore, NO TV. Her and I have gone many rounds - my house, my cable, my bill - don't touch! Same goes with my computer. My computer is like a child to me - NO ONE TOUCHES IT (not even my husband!)

I think we should all make a stepfamily prayer that we can recite when bullshit comes our way.

NOTE TO SELF - keep remembering it's only for a few days!

CHECK - Get in car and drive to nearby resort or casino and check in for the duration using husbands credit card.

I'm sorry I didn't post last night - I guess hubby and I were in a state of shock. 2 SKs came over and yes they brought their dog. Cute 3 month old lab who is being trained as a service dog. There was no problem leaving the dog in the mud room with our dog. Believe it or not, where I always expect the worse with the SKs, it was 100% positive (that's why I'm still in shock!) The grandkids played. No one touched the TV so I turned on cartoons for the grandkids. All adults played euchre. Wine and beer was served. Conversation was great; we laughed and told jokes The grandkids helped feed the farm animals and 2 even helped me milk our goat while the SK and her husband cooked dinner - it was delicious. They even bought us (hubby and me) a present; 1 SK didn't give hubby anything. I even gave them homemade goat milk soaps that we make. I can't believe after the horrid 13 past Christmases, I expected and believed the worst would happen. After they left (they were here 9 hours) my hubby and I talked while I did my physical therapy and iced. I was bold enough to ask hubby "did you pay them to be nice to me?" A very priceless Kodak moment (and no he didn't) I guess I can only think now is - 2 SK down and 4 more to go. I'm still in shock and I don't know what to think of it; is this a turning point for all of us? I am going to count my blessings that the day went well and not dwell on it. But then that little voice in me keeps saying "it was the fake smile!" lol
