Nutella

Cover1W's picture

DP bought TWO Costco size Nutella's over the holidays, I looked at him like he was nuts when be brought them home, "Hey, it's Christmas!" Ooookaaaay.

Joy of joys this weekend as I was cleaning out the pantry (leaving the empty chip bag there instead of tossing it into the middle of the kitchen...oh, I didn't know we were out, I don't buy those anyway...) what did I discover?

The second Nutella jar OPEN with a spoon still in it from last week's SD visit.
Into the trash it went, 3/4 full and semi-gooped up.
Hard rule: food not closed, it goes into trash.

The SDs, especially SD12, cannot get enough of it.
I'm ok with them having it sometimes but not as a meal.
Seriously: SD12's dinner a week ago was bread and Nutella.

And apparently at BMs, they all have their own Nutella jar with their name on it. Including BM. DP thought it was funny. I did not.

This is why when I cook I no longer take SDs food options into consideration, except for moderating spicy "hot" levels.

My SD 14 takes her economy size jar of Nutella with her places. I am not a fan of the stuff but she loves her jar dearly.

Ha ha, that's how I happened to have tried it, my 13 year old niece brought it over to my house with her!

bobby flay used it this past weekend ON TV.... i was shocked and disappointed!

i actually dont think i've ever had it, but then again i'm not real big on sweets. all this nutella talk tho' is making me miss draco!!! i wonder what's the latest with Tall Boy.... Sad

I kind of like it, but in moderation.
I find it super, super sweet with an odd texture, but it's pretty good on plain wafers in a thin layer. I'd take real chocolate with hazelnuts over it any day.

When DH asks Puke what she wants from the grocery store to have when she is here...fruit roll ups, chips, junk. Then she has it all eaten within the first two days. Never mind that she won't eat a home cooked meal because she's full up on junk. DH doesn't get her all that crap now. Maybe a bag of chips he thinks she likes but finds out she doesn't so they go to waste. She eats bagels and cereal. Barely eats dinner.

Ugh - the Dog Damn Nutella. BabyVoice loooooooves it. I have told DH to not bring it in my house. EVERY SINGLE time I see it, whether it's in the pantry, or under her bed or hidden in her closet (her grandparents buy it for her despite being told we don't allow it in the house) I throw it away.

And, then, when the inevitable "did you throw the Nutella away?" question is tossed my way, I just smile sweetly and say "I don't know what you're talking about."

Be sure to add "I didn't think it was allowed in this house. If that's the case, why I touch something that's not here?"

My objection to it is the way that baby voice eats it-with the spoon. All in one sitting.

As for me, I don't really like the taste because it's a little gritty. Like someone else said above, I would much rather have chocolate with hazelnuts in it.

I like hazelnuts (the real nuts). But I gag at all the fake hazelnut stuff out there like Hazelnut coffee and hazelnut coffee creamers.

So I don't really want to try Nutella because I've been so repulsed by all the fake Hazelnut flavoring crap.

I do this all the time. I leave the empty boxes in the pantry because that way I can say, "oh, well the box was in there so I thought we still had some."

I REFUSE, REFUSE! To buy that stuff! Bought a big jar once and SD ate the whole thing in one sitting, it's higher in sugar and calories than a jar of frosting!!!!
