Xmas
It's been pretty chill. I was exhausted yesterday, messed up the gravy, overbaked turkey by a few minutes. Not my usual standards. But veg and potatoes were good. And the champs.
YSD made her usual vegan meal, still barely any conversation out of her. She volunteers nothing. I gave up.
She rolled upstairs (still no shower) around 11. We opened gifts, she got me nothing, DH a pack of dried seaweed, and a joint gift of a couple trivits she made in hlhigh school. They are nice, and usable.
My sister had to deal with my parents so she got the short end of the stick for sure.
DH and I are talking about going on a ski trip next year, zero family. Sounds good to me.
I'm going to Crack open my new book, get a glass of wine, and hunker down for the rest of the day.
Hope you all are holding on!

Quiet Christmas Here
I haven't had "drama" Christmases for the past 6 years as I was completely disengaged from DHs kids. Even though there has been some improvement with a couple of DHs kids, it's nothing close/personal, so I don't forsee us doing holidays together any time soon, if ever. I love Christmas. These past 6 years have been nice for me, my bio kids and even my DH. No drama, no egg-shell walking, no hurt feelings (with us giving huge gifts, including cash) and them bringing NOTHING for my DH. SMH
Sad that your SD didn't give you a gift but it's so darn common in StepHell. I may have gotten 3 gifts in 19 years. I don't have any of them so that tells you how appropriate they were. LOL
I over cooked my ham...another thing we share for today. LOL again.
And a third LOL? DH and I are talking about going to Mexico next year for Christmas....we've done it before.
Merry Christmas, Cover!!
I messed up
The filling on the buche de noel. I always have a problem making stabilized whipped cream. The gelatin seldom cooperates. The prime rib, au jus, roasted potatoes, glazed carrots and sauteed green beans came out ok along with the ambrosia and yorkshire pudding.
Merry Christmas!
