Aftermath
SDs leave in two hours! I think DP and I have New Year alone together! It's been a fun, exhausting, annoying holiday. Overall pretty good.
Now to deal with:
1) one of the SDs stood on a drawer of the kitchen cabinets ripping out the top drawer, partially the second and damaging the shelf below. Neither one will come clean. I suspect SD12 but DP suspects SD9 and her TF. I actually THREW the top drawer partway across the kitchen, yelling, "I am SICK of sh!t breaking and getting lost in this house!" DP immediately promised to help me repair it and I'll hold him to that next weekend when I have time. He's not getting out of it and the repair will be on MY terms. Of course I suggested SDs help us fix it but Noooooo that's too much.
2) SDs room is gross again. Where are all the cereal bowls and tall glasses? Yep "no food rule" still blatently disregarded because DP doesn't want to deal with it. So tomorrow when I get home from work I will trash bag everything, literally, and leave them in the garage. DP or SD12 can sort it. I will not discuss it any longer after last months issues.
Gift giving went ok. SD9 broke something in a set of things I gave her within ONE minute of opening (seriously), she was messing with it and I had told her not to do it and she did it anyway. DP said, "Honest mistake." BS.
SD12 gave me a book I really wanted (thanks DP!) and I truly thanked her. She then said under her breath, "Oh my god..." I said, WHAT did you say?" SD12, "Nothing." Me, "No, you clearly said, Oh my god. What exactly did you mean?" SD12, "I didn't." After DP stepped in and flailed around she finally admitted she said it and sometimes says things accidentally that she's thinking." So she was being a b!tch. Thanks. And I was so done with gifts at that point and just tended the fire. Glad I only got them a couple small things each.

Yikes, what was the oh my god for? I can't stand the bitchy attitude crap for no reason... you just thanked her wuy wouldn't she just say "your welcome" "merry Christmas" etc..

The OMG was clearly her reaction to my thank you...the meaning was she thought my reaction was stupid. You know, teenager smart remark. Uncalled for. So I just stopped participating with any enthusiasm then and kept to myself the rest of the day. Don't care any more.

Sounds like you deal with a lot. Glad you're going to have a little time to yourselves.

Celebrate the end of the step-holiday! Such a trying, stressful bunch of days, that a few days of peace is a necessity!

Went to dinner with DP and s bunch of old friends tonight. So fun!
There were kids there and at NO TIME did any of them come whining to their parents that they were bored and wanted to leave. Not once!
I think DP noticed that - hasn't said anything so far.
We're going to meet up with them again in next couple days, with their kids so maybe he'll see well behaved children again.
SDs would have been all over DP complaining about the food and boredom and tired and whatever. Oh, wait, no they wouldn't have been there in the first place!
Dang it. DP had to get
Dang it.
DP had to get something from SD12's room last night so he saw the mess.
The only thing he commented, "I need to bring some bowls up from her room tomorrow..."
Never mind all the glasses.
Never mind all the NEW GIFTS scattered across the floor.
Never mind the overflowing trash and lack of visible carpet and junk all over her bed.
All I said, vehemently because I lost my filter, was, "WHY are YOU bringing HER bowls up? SHE needs to do it the next time she's here - we can live without those bowls. And the next time she's here and leaves the room in that state I'm going in there with trash bags and will take care of it. I'm done with ALL my comments about this from now on."
So he's warned. I didn't want to but I did. He'll forget and her room will not be cleaned. I'm fully expecting DP to bring up all the dishware from her room so the poor little privileged girl doesn't spend ONE minute actually cleaning up her own mess. Because she's so fragile. NOT. Because she is working DP like crazy.
