Birthday Party? Not discussing.
So it's DPs job to coordinate our afternoon and evening.
We have to stop by SD12 (no longer SD11) birthday party this evening and then go to his work holiday party. And run a couple errands before. Personally I'd be heading out in an hour but that's me...we still don't know plan.
Anyway, DP is texting with BM to coordinate. She doesn't have a time for us either. I don't know why someone won't just say 'gift and cake will be at X time.'
So DP told me BM asks if we can entertain SD9 this afternoon because none of her friends are available. Nope.
Then too bad her TF (troublesome friend) doesn't live closer texts BM. DP says to me something about seeing if TF is available and I see the insanity of this all.
1) I am not getting involved in this, it's between you and BM.
2) if BM wants SD9 gone then she can figure that out and
3) why in the world is it even a problem? So what it Sd9 is at home during SD12s party? Kids have to live with it.
DP asked why I was mad.
I'm not mad, I just don't think I have any say in what's going on. You work it out, I need to get some things done. And exit...

I know! When we have them we
I know! When we have them we include both.
While I have no real issues with BM she isn't a really involved mom (a little on the cold and indifferent spectrum) so likely it's easier for her if SD9 isn't there, or SD12 gave some sort of directive. 50/50 chance on those two answers.
Kids like to feel like it is
Kids like to feel like it is their day, especially preteen on. There is a big difference between a 9 year old and a 12 year old emotionally. I did the same thing with my own kids and step kid parties. I don't see anything wrong with this. However, you're right. It's not your problem. You guys already have plans. It's up to BM to figure out the logistics. It would drive me nuts too waiting for the last minute for the plan. Thankfully it's his party. No sweat off your back.
