Just when we think things are good.....
So I thought I posted a blog last week but apparently I did not. Things were great. BM was sober (she was pregnant after all) and we were all basically "getting along" for the kid's sake. BM was at overnights. OVERNIGHTS people. She was having unsupervised visitation and every other weekend visits. That lasted two weeks. She got drunk on Halloween. We didn't really have any proof and the 11 year old (can't believe she's already 11) said she didn't want to have to tell the judge. So we monitored the situation. No problems. She was doing fine and we thought maybe 11 year old was wrong. Maybe she wasn't drunk. Maybe she just thought she was.
Two weeks later, after her first full weekend visitation, she was supposed to get married. The weekend before Thanksgiving. We bought the kids special outfits. I curled their hair. We put off our own family thanksgiving by two hours to allow them to attend the wedding. She showed. Problem was she was too drunk to have a wedding. They tried again Sunday. We didn't take the kids. She was still too drunk. Finally got married on Wednesday. Appears that maybe she was able to stay semi sober for that.
No visits since then. No contact. She showed up for the school programs and we didn't oppose the kids talking to her and seeing her. Then she got drunk again and started her harassing text messages. Two nights ago she went to jail for felony domestic assault. She attacked her new husband with a candlestick. Yup you read that right. He was holding the baby and feeding him.
She's back at work today. I am pretty sure she was drunk when I went there, and she gave me death glares. We are filing a motion to terminate her parental rights. It's going to be a blood bath. It will never end even if they terminate her rights and I get to adopt. She will never disappear. She has told us that a number of times. I give it the weekend before she is back in jail.

Insane. My heart goes out to you guys.
No, she had the baby in July
No, she had the baby in July although we suspected she might have been. She was actually pretty normal when she was pregnant and shortly after. Her son is about 5 months now. Her husband was holding him when she attacked him. Ugh. I have been dragging my feet for months on this whole stepparent adoption thing. I love the kids, I do but I don't want to cut off her parental rights. But I just don't think we have a choice now. This is her 10th arrest in 2 years.
