Motor mouth has been silenced!

DH and I were talking regarding schedules, weekend plans, and bills that need to be paid. Deep in the middle of this conversation when skid3 walks up and just starts blathering on about something. I honestly don't know what because DH cut her off so fast with

"Oh sorry, please don't allow the middle of my sentence to interrupt the beginning of yours"

The child actually replied with "Oh that's ok" and attempted to continue on with her blathering.

DH turned beet red, steam rolled out his ears and he went into full non-disney-daddy lecture mode, at high volume about disrespect, interrupting, self absorption, self centered... at that point I had to walk away before I busted out laughing.

Skid3 is grounded from talking for 24 hours as of 915pm! Per DH, the house better be on fire, she better be bleeding (profusely) or have a broken body part with bones protruding' to utter a single syllable.

When the other three kids uttered in unison "THANK YOU!" I lost it and started laughing Biggrin

woo hoo!!!!!! And you are reminding me. As a single mom, my daughter had that same kind of rule: after her bedtime, it was "MY TIME" and I should only hear a peep out of her if she was bleeding profusely, with a broken bone, or unconscious.
Can't wait to hear how those 24 hours go!!!!

Oh I wish... but hey he is parenting I am not going to butt-in and make him feel like I am correcting him. He took action, he shut her up, for the next 23 hours it will be relatively quiet around the house!

My preteen SILs hated me living with them because it wasn't too long ago I was a teen myself... I know how to hit where it hurts (right in the technology Blum 3 )

Good on your DH for at least making an attempt. Maybe suggest phone/ internet being taken away as well next time (you know there will be one...)

Ummmm no, it's not being mean - it's teaching them manners!!! FFS how do they expect their precious ones to get on in the big bad world if the concept of basic good manners is too much for them?

(yep, we have very similar issues here - and he just won't tell them!)

Oh - also - have to say - tell him it's rude to interrupt ANYONE! Not just adults. If anyone is speaking wait or if it's urgent say excuse me - how hard is that?

My skids will just talk right over the top of anyone and everyone, no matter what and he just stops to listen to them - steam comes out of my ears alright.
