Hello, don't interrupt The Walking Dead!!! (rant)
For those of you who are fans of this show, you will completely understand!
SD was just a talking away, even after being asked to quiet down, and I damn near snapped! I finally had to go to a different room to watch TWD in complete silence! It is a huge pet peeve of mine to be watching a movie/tv show, and have to hear a person talk talk talk talk talk!
If this were my child, I would have told her to BE QUIET in a not so nice tone, however this is where disengagement has come to bite me in the ass. I ignore her, for the most part, and it seems as if she is in her glory when I do this! She became even more chatty once I left the room, and to be quite honest, I'd swear she asks these insanely dumb questions just to get attention!
DH took it personally when I left the room, and was mad at me. I told him that I was sick of hearing the two of them talking when I was trying to watch the show, and that I enjoy quiet time during said show. He apologized, and said he wouldn't do it again! Now how to get SD to SHUT UP... }:)

I can't handle the show
I can't handle the show personally, too gory, but it is sacred for DH and BS. They both DVR it so they can watch it undisturbed. Just have her leave the room and go to her room. Seriously, TV's in their room are more for our sanity than theirs. I have no problem with it...Also, it is something that they get hooked on and that you can use as currency to get them to behave.
I hear ya. I don't watch
I hear ya. I don't watch that one but if anyone interrupts my hockey games, Nashville or Hawaii Five O, I have an issue with that!

i get it. i was watching L and O SVU one night and sd should have been in bed like bd was because it was a school night, but no. she asks daddy if she can stay up and watch it and of course he lets her, no is not in his vocabulary when it comes to her. so for the whole hour i got to listen to that bitch crunch carrots in my ear because you know, she just HAD to sit by me!
We DVR it soon as SO's kids
We DVR it soon as SO's kids are in bed we watch it, plus with it recorded we can rewind or stop it if we need to. Love the walking dead!

How old is SD? Is TWD an appropriate program to have on with her in the room?
No she isn't old enough for
No she isn't old enough for it but her father made no attempt to ask her to leave bc he was in Disney dad mode. She came home for the week yesterday so he was all lovely and affectionate instead of in parenting mode. Trust me...this issue will be discussed further. The walking dead is OUR show...not for the kids. As for tv in their rooms...they do not have them. We have a 2nd family room that is meant for the kids.

Can it be DVR'd for when the kids are in bed or gone?
I understand that DAD should make his child's environment safe, but as an adult, I think we can make choices that affect children, too.
I wouldn't watch something like that in front of a small child.
It was a mistake that will
It was a mistake that will not be repeated. No we don't have a dvr but it may be time to upgrade the satellite service!! As the adult yes I should have asked her to leave the room but I was beyond frustrated so I am guilty of not being the adult I should have been.
