A question for birth moms.
How long did it take you to conceive your first born? I am trying to get pregnant and am on my third month of trying.
I know now is probably not the best time to get pregnant with still getting use to SD11. My mother said, "Don't you need to work out all your issues first so that you are not the evil (HA! That word comes up a lot) stepmother who only loves her child and not the stepchild?" I told her "1) I will never every love SD because the emotions and feelings are not there and that will not change no matter how much counseling I get and 2) I will be going to counseling now, while I am pregnant and after I am pregnant." I know she is probably right about the waiting part, but I don't care. I want a child I can love and show affection to when DH is doing it to his daughter.
Back to the original question? How long did it take you to conceive? Did you get frustrated? How did you stepkids handle the pregnancy? (I don't care if SD likes it or not, I just need to be ready if she doesn't)
Thanks!

My BD17 was a surprise, so I
My BD17 was a surprise, so I wasn't really counting. With BS14, after I stopped my BC pills it took about 6 months. I've had friends who it took about a year.
It was frustrating with BS14. I had it in my head that it would happen in a month or two, but I was young (20) and stupid.
I would expect 6 months to a year. Have you seen a doc yet?
I agree with 6 months to a
I agree with 6 months to a year but you should see a doc or midwife first. My OB/GYN always had me start pre-natal vitamins for a few months before trying.
My mom and best friend
My mom and best friend probably didn't have to have sex to get pregnant. They are that fertile! I haven't been to the doctor's yet because my yearly is in February, with it being so close, I was just going to set up an appointment at the fist of the month and talk to the doctor then if I am not already pregnant.
Agreed. However, to answer
Agreed.
However, to answer the question, it took us about half a year. I went to my doctor when we decided to have a baby because I have some lady problems, and the doc advised me to lose weight before we started. She told me for every 10 pounds I lost my chances would go up by about 10%.
I was 6 months into working on my weight loss when we got pregnant by surprise without fertility treatments. Yay!
I agree don't have a baby I
I agree don't have a baby I swear it will only be worse. You will be upset because he won't be avail for your child.
It took me 8mths of trying for DD.
Having a baby will make your
Having a baby will make your relationships worse. I LOVE LOVE LOVE my daughter and have ALWAYS wanted her...but relationships go to sh*t when a baby takes up every minute of your life. If you have animosity with anything, it only gets amplified because your needs are put on hold with a baby.
My mother always said: "Want a pet, nuture a plant. Want a baby, get a pet. When you master those things without resentment, wait another year and have THEN a baby."
To answer your question: took us a year.
It realllly doesn't sound
It realllly doesn't sound like you're ready for a baby. There was just a post I read this morning where the OP said she learned the hard way that having a baby doesn't make things better.
In answer to your question, easily.
#1 - on B/C... surprise!
#2 - first week off B/C
#3 - (miscarriage) on B/C
#3 - (miscarriage) on stronger B/C
#3 - on even stronger B/C. Told XH it was time for a vasectomy.
My OB found it rather amusing that I got knocked up so easily. I actually felt bad because I had family members struggling with infertility.
Lol, that is too funny! You
Lol, that is too funny! You sound like my mom and best friend. Maybe by my not getting pregnant, God is saying to wait too. Lol!
It's funny now... it wasn't
It's funny now... it wasn't so funny at the time. It was heart attack inducing! (Pregnancy #3 came when DS14 was only 8 weeks old!)
Less than two cycles.
Less than two cycles.
It took me about 14 months
It took me about 14 months with the first, and only 1 month with the second. With the first I went to the MD after trying for about 3 months and she said they wouldn't even start any tests until I'd been trying for a year.
...I just found out I'm
...I just found out I'm pregnant Saturday. This is the first time me and DH has had an oopsie, and took Plan B right after. Plan B failed, evidently, because I already released the egg. So now I'm prego and still in shock, about how it's possible to hit those odds on the first try, accidental or not.
DH is over the moon with excitement, and realize my "stomach virus" these last two weeks is due to another sort of organism entirely.
I. Hate. Morning. Sickness. Which is all day sickness for me.
