Father's Day and greeting cards

thinkthrice's picture

looking through the greeting card section I noticed that Father's Day cards have more "from the pets" than ever before.   Have never seen this in the Mother's Day cards... at least not yet.  Could this be as a result of Dad's bio children being PASed?

I know quite a few SMs on this site just celebrate Father's Day "from the fur babies" if they have no ours kids and the skids are PASed out.

Also don't see any step dad cards probably because the BMs refer to the step dads as dads...

Ah, ye olde PAS!

I adore my stepmom, but have never been able to find a SM card for Mother's Day at the store. I always have to buy it online.

Nothing. Steps just do not exist except in little kiddos nightmares...as a bed time story...

I didn't acknowledge my DH on father's day until we had kids. Now I make sure he gets a card from them.

It easier to find same sex relationship cards than stepfamily cards. Is say stepfamilies are more prevalent, but maybe less accepted??

SYN, I was taken aback that by the number same-sex relationship cards and Zero for steps. WTH?

We have fur babies but no our kids and I have no bios.  But I wouldn't get SO a card from our pets as he would think it was silly.

He did get a card and gift (really early) from Bratty and usually gets a text from Luke but nothing from Princess.

I usually just say Happy Father's Day to him and make him a nice pancake breakfast.

Buying cards from pets is honestly the dumbest thing I heard. I don't get it. Both I and DH acknowledge each other for fathers and Mother's Day. Even though we don't share kids. Still we have kids so no harm in acknowledging each other. My stepkids acknowledge me on Mother's Day. My DD has a cat but no she doesn't give us cards or gifts from the cat lol I don't relate to this insanity. You either acknowledge or you don't. Pets have nothing to do with it

I live in in a blue blue state and have never seen a same sex Mother's or Father's Day card.  I have, however, found plenty of step related cards for mother's & Father's Day as well as birthday cards.  I also have gotten a card from the dog for at least the past 5 mother's days.  I will also remind all that the pandemic has impacted the availability of many consumer products, including greeting cards.
bottom line is if some one is putting the time in as a parent and they get recognized for that who the hell cares what the card says.

Because same sex couples view themselves the same as hetero couples in blue blue states thus no need.  I also live in one of those states and don't see any lgbtq greeting cards per se.

The point is that SMs are not recognized and that the furbaby fathers day cards are on the rise speculatively due to the rise of PAS.

I apologize for any confusion I caused. I saw NO same sex Mother's/Father's Day cards. I was looking for a variety of cards that day and saw a number of same sex cards and not a single card for steps. Pandemic aside, I've always had to buy cards for my SM online as the stores have never carried any.

The problem I've found with trying to use a card I would have given to my Mom vs my SM is that the ones for Mom are typically geared towards a long relationship. Same with parental anniversary cards. My Dad and SM have been married almost 5 years and the majority of the cards simply do not fit.

Obviously, my situation is NOT the same as my SM did not put in time as a parent. Nor have *I* put in time as a parent for THIS rodeo. I do, however, continue to receive cards from my former skids who still refer to me as "Mom".

Again, sorry if I caused any confusion.
