We have been living in my dh's ex step dads parents house for the last 5 years with option to buy. Well we are having the paper work drawn up and he gave us a rockin' deal! It needs some more work as it is not finished but hey for 40,000 for a 4 bed room and almost acre with a shed can't be beat. Plus it is right in town! Not to mention just 450 a month for ten years and it is paid!

It needs a new ceiling, floors, and trim. But we will be working on all those things.

I am so happy that we finally have something and in 10 years it wil be ours!

Yes Rags it is a screaming deal! But like I said it needs work. It was built in the 1950's, it is a sears catalog ordered bungalow...with a small addition. We have taken every room down to the studs and rebuilt it. We have moved every inside wall and converted it to all electric. We put in a central heat and air and a new hot water heater. All that is left is to finish the walls and paint them, new floors, ceiling and trim. I know that the ceiling and floors is what is going to cost the most but we are going to a flooring auction in sat., they are going out of business so hopefully we can get something. I'm just so excited. Blum 3

Sounds fun. You, DH and the fam should enjoy finishing your home.

As for flooring, you may want to check for a builders excess supply sale. Builders often over purchase and when they are leaving a development will sell their excess materials that are specific to that development for screamingly good prices.

A Sears catalog house. Those are rare and can be very nice homes. You own an American classic.

Um yep it was taken to the studs! We still have to put sheet rock back up in the youngest 2's room. LOL We had too b/c there was no insulation at all! It has been a pain but it is ours now! It just feels so good to that. The reason we are doing it this way is b/c ex step dad was having a hard time letting go and we have changed so much with in the house that it doesn't look the same and I think he is finally ready to let go somewhat. But he wants us to just buy it from him, I don't think he wants a bank involved so it feels like it stayed in the family. Wink

Thanks and no bm has never been here (except stalking us) as ex step dad made it very clear to her that she is not welcome and that of she did show up he would call the police.

I am very excited to start work on the floor and everything else. Smile
