Logical SillyGilly says "It's his Xmas too. If he is so excited, it won't hurt a thing and make him so happy."
Controling Matchy-Matchy Xmas SillyGilly says "Tell him to back off. Decorating is your thing and the house always looks nice and he can decorate the garage or if he has a 'manland room' with his new weird decorations."
Does that help?
LOL NO Silly! But thanks and
LOL NO Silly! But thanks and that is what I was thinking too. So I'm stuck.
I was thinking that too but
I was thinking that too but green and purple? Will that look good together?

Take a look at your picture, it is purple and green I think it looks fine together!!

Hmm.. ok...I have calmed down
Hmm.. ok...I have calmed down because initally all I could do is envision my DH showing up trying to hijack Xmas with his ideas... whew....
What are these decorations? Lights? Ornaments? etc...? Let's figure this out.
What kind of green is it? I
What kind of green is it? I know there are a lot of decorations coming out in the bright light blue, pinks, & bright greens. If it's that kind of green, as long as it isn't all over the place I don't think it'd look bad.
They are ornaments and it is
They are ornaments and it is the bright green color it is quite pretty really. It is the one at walmart. I hope that helps. I am thinking I should just make him happy. He is such a wonderful husband and always puts me first. Last year for christmas he got me a book I'd been wanting to read but I didn't ever say this is what I want.
I say go with it. At least
I say go with it. At least try it out. If you don't like it, you can take them off.
Why not go to Hobby Lobby and
Why not go to Hobby Lobby and try and get a ribbon that has all three colors and use that as your integrating piece wrapped around the tree...
Yeah, sounds like you are
Yeah, sounds like you are going to have to go with it. If you really hate them maybe the tree will tip over...and they will break? }:) But, think happy thoughts, it might turn out looking great!
But hopefully before the tree
But hopefully before the tree tips over, all of the really pretty ornaments would find their way off of the tree & into a safe corner somewhere so they didn't get broken. Not saying anyone would purposely ONLY move the pretty ones. Just saying hopefully...somehow...they would make it out safely. }:)
That will be hard to do as
That will be hard to do as they are plastic except for some special ones.
I like that idea thanks
I like that idea thanks Jsmom. I have to go anyway to get the boys a stocking as I have no idea what happened to them.
I say go with it, I'm sure it
I say go with it, I'm sure it will be pretty!
I've always used multiple colors on my tree, because it was easier to integrate ornaments that my sons would make over the years. Even with multiple colors, I'm still sort of picky about it. I like rich, deep colors. Nothing pastel or cartoonish allowed. I sort of had to give that up with the skids, as they have favorites that have to be included. Our tree has been a comprise for the last few years.
The one thing I will NOT compromise, however, is the topper. I prefer a star on the top, and have been using the same one since I was on my own at 17. DH and skids are used to using an angel. Skids were pretty ticked when I wouldn't put an angel on our first tree together, but I explained that this particular star has been MY family tradition for years. Their BM has whatever they normally use, and now they get to enjoy both. Luckily DH backed me on it

-------------------------------------------------------------
I have searched high & low for a topper that I love. I had an angel for a few years with my exH. I liked it okay, but her lights burned out & I just got tired of her.
I have looked, for the last 3 years, for a star that I really like & can't find what I have in my mind. I want one that lights up. I've found several I really got excited about until I realized they had no lights.
Our tradition was a star that was passed down from my mom's family. I'd love to find something like it, but as old as it is, it's not likely.
I think it's great your husband was willing to agree to carry this tradition on with you.
Awesome. Yep my tradition is
Awesome. Yep my tradition is that I ALWAYS buy the kids a brass ornament with their name and date. these are for them to start their own tree when they are on their own. I included the skids on that too. I also always buy new pjs and the skids didn't get it til a few years ago when I didn't get them a set due to dh. They thought I was mad at them or something so I made an emergency stoop to the store on christmas eve!! I told dh to never talk me out it something like that again! Silly man. Oh and we make a ginger brad house every year and last year I was thinking they might be getting too big till ss14 (15 today) asked about it and was so excited that I went and got one so we have always done these things. These have always been just my traditions with my kids til I married dh. Bm doesn't let the kids participate in anything she just does everything for them. They can't help decorate or bake or anything.
I believe in teaching the kids how do do these things and if it's not perfect oh well it was the time you spent with that that they will remember instead of it being perfect.
Blue and silver is my
