Camping trip

TheOtherMom's picture

This weekend we are going camping.
I am totally excited about it because well, I love the natural environment, the kids are a blast and DH mellows out. Plus our dogs get really goofy.
I also love to eat Smores without the chocolate and the graham cracker Smile

And now the reason I am blogging:
BM told SS11 on the phone last night that it won't be as fun to go camping with us as it is with her and her family because we don't have a lake or fishing or trees because we are in the desert.
I have raised the boys to be pretty appreciative of the good things like the awesome colors of the sky during a desert sunset.

I don't understand that! Why would you tell a kid that they wont have as much fun with one family as they will the other? She should be excited for them and telling them to have a good time. That's how a real mother would act.

Remember ladies we are dealing with psycho BM's not real loving caring mothers. I have never been to the desert but hear it is absolutely beautiful. Sounds like she is very jealous that her child might have a good time without her. My SS16 BM would constantly take him on fabulous vacations - Disney world, Grand Canyon to name a few - we have time share in our state that we use every year (we just don't have the money to go anywhere else) but SS16 really likes going and does not miss this week for anything. This Christmas I saved up for a few years and I wanted DD5 to go to Disney so that is where we are going and SS16 is coming with us.

BM called DH about a month ago and wanted DH to buy SS a car and pay for insurance and a trip to Spain and a $900.00 SAT prep course he told her absolutely not he pays CS if she wants more take him to court - then she told him he needed to cancel the disney trip because SS16 was too old to go and had already been there and we should take that money and help her with these luxuries not necessities. DH told her to stuff it and that he has a whole family to consider not just SS16 and this was the first time we would be going somewhere warm in the winter and we were not giving up the trip but if she wanted to tell SS he could not go that was her business and she could give SS16 the $100.00 that would be his gift. Believe me the way the kid eats (orders the most expensive thing on the menu) and wants to be entertained the entire time we could save a boat load of money.

She was so furious because she thinks he will have a great time we are staying at another timeshare 4 bedroom/4 bathroom (really great price I booked in January) a mile from disney and it has so many fun things that when we told SS16 he got so excited and can't wait to go. We weren't going to tell him but were afraid that BM would let it slip and then DH could not see how happy and excited he was so at least DH got to see that.

Have a great time and let the haters hate!!

My wife and I agree with you on the Smores. Went camping three weekends ago and made smores with milk chocolate and cinnamon graham crackers. They were unbelievably sweet. Went camping this past weekend and changed the recipe. This time regular graham crackers and dark chocolate. Not as sweet, but both figured out we like plain old toasted marshmallows.

Happy camping!!!

Although my SD never visits anymore, SS15 will fight with his mom to come to our place.

DH gave SS an option of whether or not to come this weekend (against what I thought was best but DH was worried SS would be bored) and he wants to come.

Then I thought about it, BM just got married and her new hubby has two girls. So I bet he just wants to get away from all the women for a while!! Smile
