SD5 was taken to hospital this morning.

Last time we had SD5 was last Monday night. She seemed fine, but she told us that BM thinks she is allergic to their pet rat because she keeps getting puffy eyes when she wakes up. I asked her if she has been crying at night before sleep becuase I know sometimes that makes your eyes puffy the next day, and she said no, so we just kind of let it go.

Baptizing Skids?

SteppingUp's picture

I know this has been a hot topic in the past, but I'd like opinions.

We are planning to baptize our baby. We're not incredibly religious, but it's important to my family and to DF's family. While we were discussing this the other night, DF said he'd really like to baptize his son, SS3 while we're at it. It makes sense that if we're going to do it, we should do it at the same time.

This is something he'd discuss with BM first. I have a few questions I'd like opinions from all of you on:

Gift ideas from the new baby to the skids?

We want to get the skids a little something from the new baby (their little brother, due in 5 weeks), and have it ready right after he's born to give it to them. The skids are 3 and 5.

I bought SS3 a t-shirt that says "Big Bro" on it, but also want to get him something else because obviously he won't be that pumped about a t-shirt Smile I guess maybe just a toy?

OT: Something yummy to make for "treat day" at work?

SteppingUp's picture

We have a treat day at work on Fridays, where two people on our floor bring something to share with everyone. The last time it was my turn, I made chili cheese dip w/ tortilla chips. It was a huge hit - everyone loved it. I want to do something different this time but can't decide. Also I don't want to spend more than about $15 on it. The other girl bringing treats that day is bringing something sweet, so I'd rather stay with something salty-ish!

Suggestions on something I could make/bring that will have enough servings for about 30-40 people?

Theme here today seems to be about money.... let me rant one more time.

SteppingUp's picture

I know it could always be worse. Believe me, I know. Just let me vent....sometimes I seriously wonder what normal, middle-class people with kids (and skids) are supposed to do. We don't qualify for any assistance because we are a whopping $100 dollars/month over the eligibility cap for food stamps or WIC.

After figuring bills out for after the baby comes, and after I go back to work, we'll only have about $75 left a month to spend on gas and groceries. Wow.

BM will get entire tax return. Booo.

SteppingUp's picture

Just got bad news...we should have expected this but for some reason we were in la-la land.

Fiance gets a hefty tax return every year because he works a ton of overtime. He also gets a profit sharing bonus in February. This year, he gets to also claim his son, SS3 (they flip-flop years to claim him). He was anticipating a total sum of at least $7,000 with all of this.

*Sigh* BM wins the nighttime potty training battle....for now.

SteppingUp's picture

A few months ago we talked to BM about trying to start night-time potty training with SS3. He's totally the type of personality that he's lazy about most things. We figured he is just lazy with his night time peeing, too -- that he knew he had a pull-up on so instead of getting up to go to the bathroom he would just go in it. I vented on here that BM refused to do it. She said she refused to clean up a mess every night.

OT: 30-Day Shred, P90X, TurboJam/TurboFire, Insanity

SteppingUp's picture

I would love your opinions on these workout programs!

We started doing P90X last summer and really liked it (plus, we saw some awesome results) but we stopped after we found out I was pregnant. We decided to just take it easy.

We're thinking we'll start P90X again but we need to start somewhere else before that intense of a program. Is Jillian Michael's 30-Day Shred a good one?
