His mom and I had been dating for a few months. Mom and Dad flew in for college graduation (mine and my younger brothers). It was Feb 1994. I picked up my GF and her kid and brought them to my condo to meet my parents. The Skid, then 1yo, had a raging cold and was a little snot ball. My dad had a raging cold and was miserable.

My beautiful bride caught her heel in her cuffed slacks and busted her ass on the escalator at work today. She is okay but a little scraped,bruised and sore. I spent several hours massaging her bruised and sore legs and butt this evening while trying to avoid the half dozen or so bandages on her scrapes.

But .... holy crap .... she does this about once ever three or so years. I am all for fashion and dressing stylishly but not when it hurts.

We were at breakfast on Sat AM. My mom, my dad, my wife and I were discussing how so many people we know never get past their teens as far as judgment is concerned and how so many of them expect others to pull their beans out of the fire when they repeatedly screw up.

My SS-18 was not actively participating in the conversation and was apparently in his usual state of half catatonic doze. During a lull he said "I know someone just like that". We all got very quiet when he spoke up. We knew who he was referring to.

He needed 100pts out of 200. He got 98. He is very disappointed.

He needs some time to get through this so I am going to give him a few days to work it out.

I was supportive and told him that this test was an aptitude test and not an intelligence test like the ASVAB is. All this is telling him is that he does not have a high level of aptitude for languages. The military is very proficient in finding where a person fits. With his ASVAB scores they will find a place for him that will take advantage of his intelligence and potential.
