HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

lieutenant_dad's picture

Even to our non-American friends here in STalk Land, I wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving and give many a thanks to you all for your support and community (even if we don't agree).

Let's make this a happy thread, shall we? The holidays are right around the corner, so tell me the holiday memory that you're most thankful to have!

OSS finally acted like a teenager! And other musings...

lieutenant_dad's picture

DH had to drop something off with for the boys last night that they needed but forgot at our place over the weekend. When he gets there, he is informed that OSS is over an hour late getting home and wasn't answering his phone.

DH is told where he is and starts heading toward that friend's house. I'm trying to find that friend's phone number and am texting/calling OSS basically saying "you're in deep sh*t with your dad, so you better call him". DH gets in touch with friend's mom and, SURPRISE - OSS isn't there but friend thinks he knows where he is.

BM changed her last name AGAIN...

lieutenant_dad's picture

In case you haven't read my previous blogs, here's the short version:

When BM divorced her XH, she decided to change her last name back to DH's because she wanted to share a last name with the boys because, according to her, the school was calling the kids by XH's last name instead of DH's.

I found it odd that she went back to DH's last name since 1) she had her XH last name longer than DH's, and 2) she spent many years trying to erase DH from the boys' lives as a parent.

Update to BM Got "Engaged"

lieutenant_dad's picture

BM got married. I'll be darned. She actually got this one to the altar. Granted, they've been together *maybe* a month now, so no real time to figure out this train wreck of a situation.

They are also moving to a more expensive apartment.

He also has a gaggle of children and a job.

*sigh* Who wants to take bets on how long the honeymoon period lasts before drama starts back up?

Very OT - Calling All Steppers Trying for an "Ours" Baby

lieutenant_dad's picture

Just need some support from other steppers dealing with this as every other TTC board is full of first-time marriages.

If you recall, my DH had his vasectomy reversal in May. He had a follow-up sperm analysis in early July that showed nothing. Doc wasn't too worried, put him on prednisone and told him to come back in 6 weeks.

Went back, found sperm, but counts/motility were low. Doc still didn't seem concerned. Put DH on NSAIDs and a multivitamin. Goes back in Decemeber for another SA if I don't get pregnant.

OSS Got Accepted into College!

I'm very happy for the kid, and very happy that it was his top pick school. Also happy that it is about 90 minutes away from BM so OSS won't feel pressured to live with her and help with the bills.

He says he is going to apply to other schools, too. Those are out-of-state, and unless he gets a full-ride scholarship, it won't be affordable. He gets free in-state tuition due to DH's disabled veteran status, and DH has made it clear that he's not helping pay tuition to out-of-state or private schools when there are state schools that offer the same programs.

BM is "Engaged"

lieutenant_dad's picture

I am out of town, so DH had to go to OSS's band concert alone last night.

Apparently BM announced she is getting married and is "engaged".

I say "engaged" in quotes because 2 weeks ago she was in a relationship with a guy we'll call Q. Fiance is not named Q; we'll call him T instead.

DH asked YSS his thoughts. I guess he just shrugged and didn't have much of an opinion.

The last guy she was "engaged" to turned out to be a sex offender who happens to be dating a family friend's ex now (who she dumped her kids for in the last month, BTW).

Can't even make it to the weekend without CS...

lieutenant_dad's picture

Vent ahead.

BM apparently contacted DH and said she needed her CS money early, so DH is heading down to her place to give it to her.

He works on the north side of a large city. She lives on the south. It's an hour drive without traffic; easily 1.5 given how much traffic and construction is happening at the moment. Add another 30+ minutes to get home from her place.

Oh well. It's his time, and he best not complain about being tired when he gets home. She gets CS on FRIDAY, so it's his own stupid fault for going down there.

Who makes kids buy tux jackets!?!?

lieutenant_dad's picture

So, OSS's concert band requires the boys to wear tuxes during performances. All eleven performances.

Problem: the school is no longer providing tux rentals for this shiz.

Their solution: make the parents buy or rent tuxes. They are allowing the boys to wear just black slacks and a white button-up shirt, though, to save on costs.
