Father's Day...should I get something for DH when in all likelihood BM will not have SD do anything?
I know with Father's Day coming up, a lot of us are worried about the skids and the holiday. I am one of the masses on this one!
BM claims she is happy DH is in SD5's life (he wasn't for a while because BM up and left and we didn't know where she was for a very long time, among other things that the woman has done that have made things difficult to say the least). I think she is only "happy" DH is in SD5's life when she is getting money from us. Any other time, I think she wishes DH would drop off the face of the earth. That being said, I don't think BM is going to have SD do anything for my husband for father's day. I don't think she's going to have her call him, write, or send a card. I don't think she will do anything. I know damn well she knows father's day is coming up...how can anyone in the US not know when the next holiday is considering how the advertisements for it are up 1-2 months before the holiday even happens!
Anyways, since my bets are that BM isn't going to have SD5 call DH or have SD5 do anything for DH for Father's Day, should I? There was this R/C boat for sale that DH really wants and I was thinking of getting it for him as a father's day present. It will be from me and he will know it's from me (SD5 lives 1200 miles away, so it's not like I can take her shopping to get him something).

I get DH gifts from SS
I get DH gifts from SS because we don't have any children together (and BM, she's and idiot). Thats just me though. I do tell him "Happy Fathers Day" and Ill cook a nice meal, but thats about it.
When is the child support due
When is the child support due to the BM? I'd make sure to tell her that making sure BD is taken care of on Father's Day is as much her responsibility as paying child support is his. A little veiled threat.
And if you have her address you can overnight a card to SD, with a return overnight envelope enclosed, and she can sign it and stick it back in the mail. That's better than a boat.
I've thought of that, but it
I've thought of that, but it would probably be wasted. I don't think BM would have SD do it, if she lets her even have the card (I don't think she gives SD everything we send). I had to call BM on DH's birthday to talk with SD. I did it before I got home and told DH that BM had had SD call to wish him happy birthday. I told SD to tell her dad that he was really old and she did! lol.
I like the recordable card
I like the recordable card idea! I might have to do that!! Hopefully it will record over the phone.
We don't see SD very often unfortunately. She just turned 5 last November so the option of flying her to us is a new one and BM is "afraid" of flying her to us. So the only time we can see her is when we go there, which let me tell ya, is SUPER spendy!
Oh...and the R/C boat is only $20.00...it's on sale at Target!
oh i know!!! they can be
oh i know!!! they can be spendy for sure! DH has a R/C monster truck that was $250
Last year I helped SD5 make a
Last year I helped SD5 make a card for my bf for fathers day, we even bought a cake and he loved it and SD enjoyed doing it as well...BM didnt bother even getting SD to write a card. I think it meant a lot to my bf that I had arranged for SD to do these things. THis year, SD wont be with us on fathers day but I think I might just get a card anyway.
Crayon-I like the politician
Crayon-I like the politician analogy! That is exactly what it is like!!
Oh holy crap!!! That sentence
Oh holy crap!!! That sentence about birthdays and holidays and stuff is almost exactly what BM has told me word for word. Argh...and I was deluding myself that maybe she meant it.
What a sweetheart you are. If
What a sweetheart you are. If you want to buy him a boat buy him a boat. If you want to say it is because you think he is a great father, then say that. And so you put her name on it! She is 1200 miles away, and it is kind of hard to put together a card if you dont have someone telling you its the right thing to do. Maybe the next time she comes to visit, the two of you together get something or make something to put on the boat.. for belated fathers day! Do what makes you happy!
