My Goodness!
So, I found out on Fri that my sd10 has head lice. I have never had to deal with this before so called around and got some advice while my husband called her bm and let her know9since she had been there the weekend before. Now I was thinking that she didn't get it from thier because my ss12 did not have it. But he thought he should call and let her know since she does have four other children there. So I was talking to my bm about it and actually defending thier bm for once when my mother reminded me that my ss had not gone to his mothers that weekend. Thier bm bit my husbands head off right away yelling that none of her kids have lice. He hardly got the words outta his mouth. So now we know and as far as I'm concerned there is no reason to fight over it cause the kids could have picked them up anywhere. We have just been lucky so far. I just think these are the types of things that def do need to be reported between the two households. I just wonder if she would give us the same consideration? She is a very filthy person. The house she lived in with my husband after he left her had to be torn down cause there was no cleaning it and the last house she lived in with all the kids is still condemned to this day.

That would be me! How fun is
That would be me! How fun is that! I am having the time of my life. As for the other kids and myself-we all did the treatments even though we don't have them and are know using a lice repellant just to be on the safe side. I have never done to much wash and vaccumed so much in one day only to have to wake up and do it all over again the next day. But better safe then sorry. I think I will opt to keep her from her mothers during the treatments just to be on the safe side. And the school nurse is coming to my house tonight to check and see if I got them under control. I think I have so far. There is not much coming out. But even seeing one makes me stand there for an extra hour and comb! Thier father is the lucky one cause he has no hair!LOL
I had forgotten all about
I had forgotten all about lice! When dd20 was in kdg she had beautiful long blonde hair past her shoulders. She and her bff went everywhere together with their heads stuck togetgher like siamese twins. Yep... lice and a short short pixie cut! I am sorry u have to go through this. Not fun at all!
For good measure when its all over set off a few flea and tick bug bombs in the house.
And don't forget to treat the dog too!
Oh foxie, didn't think you
Oh foxie, didn't think you were laughing! I just hope I'm doing this right. Just did another treatment and at first got a few what I think are eggs then nothing so hopefully caught them fast enough. But I feel just like I did when I was Humane Officer and even if I saw a flea I would be itchin like crazy! As far as lice when I was working-if I even suspected it-I would go right out to my work truck and put the lice stuff in my hair. I wouldn't rinse it out til I got back to my shelter. Didn't care if all my hair fell out just couldn't stand the thought of bugs in my hair! Luckily my sd does not have long hair! Wish me luck, because my bd does! So far no sign in her!Or anyone else!
Yeah, my little nephew once
Yeah, my little nephew once had them. My hairdresser pulled me aside and told me when she was giving him a haircut. She handled it really kewl as not to embarrass him. She had the potions to rid it and even gave him a "cool little butch" haircut. He loved it!
I called my neice, then went to the store and got all the stuff. I asked my nephie if he'd been playing dress up and putting out hats while shopping, wear someone's cap when playing sports, or did he use a public phone? I really downplayed that to them all.
I got their home fumigated (it wasn't as easy to rid that lice as I thought'd it be) and everyone used the shampoo.
This is how so downplayed the whole issue was. When I took my nephie to the country club pool, one of my friends commented on what a great haircut he'd gotten. He told her that he'd had the haircut because he'd had "bugs" and Tina had cut his hair short.
My friend smiled and hugged him. SHe said those bugs must have traveled from her kid to him.
That's when I learned lice is usually part of a kid's life. It's the adults who make having headlice so awful for kids. Who knows where they picked it up? It just needs to be dealt with.
btw...I had my car cleaned for lice too. Thecar detailer laughed and told me about his daughter coming home with it. Hey...it happens a lot!
my skids are covered
my skids are covered everytime we have them. its not as big a deal in the UK, the state schools are crawling. thats why most boys have super short hair and girls wear theirs up in a really tight slicked bun.
i do the combing and treatment every friday when we get the skids but its no use as the bm cant be arsed to bother eradicating them from her house so its just a cycle.. bedding gets done in mine after each w/e and we do not have any blankets or anything on the sofa.
So far neither me nor SO have picked them up in the two years we have been together so it doesnt even bother me anymore.
however, when i was young, I think I remember an outbreak of them ONCE in all the time I was in school.
Bedding in freezers, every last item of clothign washed etc etc..this is why we never had them.
My skids go to school in the biggest council estate in our city so if the poorer kids that go theres parents cant be arsed to do the treatments etc it just spreads and never goes anywhere.
used to be nit nurses here but apparently combing for nits is now considered 'child abuse' so that has been stopped. I know. I know.
We fought headlice with my
We fought headlice with my two SD for over a year. They would come over on the weekend and we would buy the lice kit wash the hair and all the clothes get them all cleaned up and send them home lice free. The next weekend we would pick them up and do it all agin. I tried talking to the BM she just got mad, I finally just bought her a box of the Nit for head lice and sent it home with the girls with a note that said please use this if we pick them up again with head lice SRS will be contacted. Fixed the problem right away.
Its not considered neglect
Its not considered neglect here. unfortunately.
Its just bm being lazy. SO said something to her but she just says its impossible to get rid of them.
Well it is if you dont wash the kids sheets more than once a month and they only bath on Sundays/Wednesdays.
I just cant be bothered anymore. It takes like 4 hours to do SD3 and 5-6 to do each SS and I have better things to do with my time.
Get some tea tree oil and add
Get some tea tree oil and add some into all your shampoos/conditioners. It helps kill them and keep you from getting them again. We went a through a huge lice problem at a group home I used to work at and we had sixty people living there, many of them got lice. We were finally able to get rid of them by giving every single tenant shampoo and conditioner that had tea tree oil added to it. You can look online for more information about it but it really works!
