Estranged and Wow

ICanMakeIt's picture

DH has an estranged older SK with children he has never met (6 yrs old and under ).for Clairity  never met the grandkids.

His oldest SK (who is the estranged kids sibling) just relocated near us.
There is a lot of sharing of conversations that are pissing me off. I think DH is numb to it.

They were both estranged until about 6 yrs ago DH tried one last time reaching out to both of them. The eldest reached back. We traveled up to her area and did dinners/lunch, etc and always invited the other one. The last time was told to stop asking.

One week to go

I just made the last payment for SS for CS.

He ages out this month.

Still one SK to go but looking forward to a little financial relief. Its been a long time coming.

I'm not sure how we should celebrate this mini milestone, but I'm happy to entertain some ideas Smile

Pleasantly surprised and Happy to report...

DH and I both were able to attend Graduation!

There were no issues and it could not have been better!

BM and her Troll Husband wore shorts and sandals/flip flops. Maybe I'm just old school but I would think your first born's Graduation warrants some sort of nicer special occasion wear. They also ran off again..as soon as the ceremony was over and before the SK exited the building they were gone.

We stayed for about 45 minutes taking pics with friends, etc. then took him to dinner.

The Graduation

You guys, I'm cautiously optimistic for the first time, about SS and graduation.

I've written previously about how for years I've been anticipating an issue at graduation. DH contacted the school etc. When he finally got a reply they told him they would talk to the graudate vs. mail us the tickets because it is up to the graduate who they invite. WTF?!?!

Anyhow, randomly SS text DH this weekend that he will be giving DH his tickets on x date.DH had mentioned us purchasing flights during their weekly Facetime earlier in the day but the text was nice to see.

Last Spring Break with SS

We had Spring Break with the SKs last week. It's SS last one as he graduates in June. Overall probably the easiest visit. No drama. No demands via BM through the kid. No big surprises. Kinda chill visit. (Thank you Jesus)

My DH was able to have the weekend and two work days off but the remaining 3 days the kids spent with me until he got home.

High School Graduation - What would you do

SS is set to graduate HS this year.

Now after years of reading horror stories from multiple site like this, I've been probably overally aware/prepared for this probable issue.

DH contacted the parent organization person for this year's graduating class. He inquired about how grad tix are handled. According to to them, if graduation is held outside the graduate is provided 6 tickets. If inside, 4 tickets. They are given to the graduate the morning of graduation at the practice/run through.

It really NEVER is enough for BM is it.

Previously I've vented about how SS doesn't share jack diddly squat with DH. He's been told his whole life what happens at his house with BM stays there and he isn't equipped to understand the difference in if mom's drinking don't tell us that, but if you wreck your car, tell DH that.

DH wasn't included in any testing for college info, or even the fact that college was on the radar for SS. It was previously always trade school which I FULLY support the idea for him. He's not college material in my humble opinion.

Just a rant

My SS doesn't know he's his own person!

We have SKs 2nd part of Christmas break so they are here now.

This 17 year old answers almost every question with "WE". For example when asked if his Information came back yet about financial aid, the response "WE haven't looked at it yet".When asked how Senior pics turned out .."WE are still deciding which ones to get". When asked about 1st semester of college plans etc, "WE" aren't sure yet!
I'm going to scream "is there a mouse in your pocket"the very next time he answers this way!
