trick or treat age?
This is a quick question....what age do you think a kid should stop trick-or-treating?? I remember being 12 or so, having menstrual cramps during trick or treat, and thinking "this is retarded to still be doing this." Kids don't seem to grow up these days, or have a sense of age-appropriate activities. What age do you think is enough already?? I ask because BF was talking about what skid13 is doing this year for Halloween, and mentioned that he could trick-or-treat in our neighborhood this year and in BM's next year. I didn't say anything, but thought "next year?"

I stopped once I graduated
I stopped once I graduated from elementary school...It wasn't "cool" anymore...For for me it was like 11...
Also...I think it depends on what age you stop wearing costumes...though I see plenty of kids walking around without costumes bumming candy...to which I promptly tell them that they were going to have to entertain me or SOMETHING in order to get the "treats". Sing...Dance...sing AND dance...something..I can't stand seeing teens walking around without costumes with a damn pillow case for their candy...
I think 10-12 is the
I think 10-12 is the appropriate age to stop. Like the above poster I hate when the 16yr old comes to the door without a costume wanting candy, Entitlement generation at its finest. But I do think 13 is to old to still be trick or treating.
he he, i went trick or
he he, i went trick or treating last year, and i'm going again this time around. i'm 31. guess i'm not much help.

Kids at my SDs high school still wear costumes to school on Halloween and some still trick or treat. Sometimes my SDs trick or treat with their friends.
I think if it's something he wants to do, let him. He'd resent you for making him stop, and it isn't worth the headaches that will bring.
mine? thanks. it's a
mine? thanks. it's a pictorial metaphor of my husband and my stepson, lol. they sit on the porch like this all the time.

simifan, game match game. i'm steering clear of your place. and wearing a better mask this year.
My sds still go and they are
My sds still go and they are 13 and 17 but I tell them they are too old every year for 2 years. But a lot of the kids their age in the area still go.
Local ordinances set the age
Local ordinances set the age limit at 12 here. Teens are not allowed to trick or treat. But if they come to my house, are polite and have a costume I give them candy.
I have a bigger problem with parent's who drive their kids around to get candy so they can cover more territory. That is just greedy.
Good grief, they made a law
Good grief, they made a law about it? This country is f'ed up stupid....look, to each their own-who says they can't have fun in a costume-let them lose interest when the do.
I'm sorry but adults go to Halloween parties all the time, dressed up, etc...but somehow if teens go out on the street their entitled losers? I'm honestly getting tired of how teens are ostracized so much, and restricted as if their unwanted felons already.
Can't go to the mall unless chaperoned (thanks to the rifraf idiots)-they don't really have "matinee" dance places at safe venues like the do in other countries....no sktaboarding, no talking, no moving, no costumes, no fun....then they wonder what kids are drinkign and driving after parties and shooting up drugs. They cut anything HEALTHY fun out and regulate their lives to hell and then wonder WHY our youth is messed up. Good grief. I wish they had some of the freedoms I grew up with-in a semi socialist country no less. Kids/teens/youth were able to live life, have fun, independence, roam around, grow, mature w/out tons of laws/restrictions and ordinances.
You don't give candies to them if you don't want-it's a happy season-I don't mind giving candy out. I'm sure my kids will go out this year. SD begged to be at our house that wknd to go trick or treating in the neighborhood because we make it more fun.
HER MOM last year-INSISTED on swapping wknds to have her on Halloween...what they did? Went 1hr to a small church event for 30min...then went to some neighborhood, and DROVE around-didn't even let the kids out of the car-stupid idiot-we were so pissed, and SD was even more upset then we were.
SO this wknd-joy of joys-bm is swapping AGAIN-but this time so we WILL have her since SD told her to hike up a tree for Halloween lol- My bf and I dress up-decorate the house-play Thriller and hand out candies (and I drink wine) lol
