Who has the say so in my house???
So FDH got his 2 sons back tonight cause BM has to work, and she let SS7 bring in a brown paper bag half full of candy into our home that she had bought for him at the gas station right before they came here. FDH let her bring it in, so I'm just wondering...does she stil have say over what goes on in my house? Or am I overreacting? I'm pretty upset about it! This is my holiday with my 2 kids, I knew his 2 would be here, and I had the evening planned out for all of us, but needless to say, what I had planned is a flop!

Take the candy and tell skid
Take the candy and tell skid that you will save it for him to enjoy at his mom's house.

I don't understand how the candy affects your plans. Do you have a no candy rule? If so, then yes, you should have taken it away until they were returning to their mother.

SS used to bring things from bm's that I had issues with. He'd pack a can of soda in his backpack. Our kids dont drink soda here and he was very well aware of that. He'd bring gum-again not something the kids really have here as it gets stuck in the carpet and he's also been known to bring large bags of candy. SS lived here for years so he was well aware of the rules. Part of my issue with all this is that in our home we also had 3 other kids. It's not really cool for him to pop open a soda in front of the three of them and drink. Nor is it cool to get his bag of candy out and chow down while the rest are watching (candy is allowed in our house). SS and quite frankly, dh would be livid if I waited til ss arrived and gave the other 3 kids large bags of candy and had them eat them in front of him.
Typically I would just take the item from him. There were times I threw it in the trash-for example he knew the soda and gum were against the rules so I just trashed it-the candy would go on top of the fridge to take back to bm's which ultimately he forgot so that ended up in the trash as well.
