Yipee!
I got a free couch today! And boy did we need it!
When DH and I moved to Georgia, to care for my father, we knew we would be living with him so we got rid of alot of furniture (all mine from before we married). Well after we moved out of dad's house we couldn't afford furniture at all due to the CS. All we had was our bed and a few pots and pans. Oh and of course DH 5 deer heads that he could never part with (yuck!). In the two years since then we found dressers in a yard sale, a table at a flea market, and a love seat that had been returned on clearance. We are even renting to own the girls beds. Some of you know how it is, BM gets all DH's money and you pay all the bills so there's nothing left over.
It was fine when it was just DH and I but it's hard having the girls here and no furniture. I spent my bonus money and bought them beanbag chairs. Well today DH and I took the garbage to the dump and it was raining. We went by a house that had a nice sectional sofa sitting in the yard. After dumping the garbage we stopped back by to ask them about it. (beggers can't be chosers) Well they had planned on selling it in the yard sale and got rained out. They had no where to put it so it got rained on bad. They planned on dumping it since it got wet so we brought it home.
I've got it on my front porch (covered porch) drying out. It's not bad it only looks to be 3-4 years old at the most. The seats have bad cigerette burns but the other side of the cushions are fine. I sprayed it down with Lysol and Frebreeze and now I'm waiting for it to dry before I bring it inside.
I love when the lord provides. I'm forever looking for open windows. (If God shuts a door he opens a window) I can't wait to see the girls' faces when they see we finally have a couch big enough for all of us.

Reminding me
You just helped me feel so much better. You reminded me that I am not the only one struggling through these terrible financial troubles. It is comforting.
I am glad that you were able to find something that you desperately needed. And you are so correct about God opening doors for us. I just got home from church where my Pastor was talking about how we needed to stop listening to the news and politicians about the economy we are in and living in fear of not being able to have the finances we need. Instead, let's put our faith in God where it belongs and remember that He is enough and will always provide.
I loved your post and I hope you enjoy your new couch.
"I didn't lose my mind, I sold it on ebay."
Congrats on the new
couch. Sounds like you needed it. Too bad you don't live closer, I have furniture to get rid of.....would gladly give it to you! I belong to a site called freecycle.org (i think it's.org). Anyway, people post things they don't want anymore and you can go pick them up. The idea is to keep things out of the landfill. Everything is FREE. check it out, sounds like you could benefit from it.
I love freecycle
I love it and Craig's list too! Just don't let your kids get on Craig's list b/c sometimes they post nasty pictures.
The freecycle for my area has more people asking for things then there is giving things. I love it though. I've given things to people in need and I find it's a great place to ask people for used romance novels and to give them away when I'm done.

My hubby now has a great
My hubby now has a great job, and full custody of SD(which actually costs us more somehow) so we are finally doing well but funny he and I passed a shair the other day and both admitted wanting to stop to get it out of habbit born from many years like that when we couldn't afford garage sales even.heck I remember weeks where we only had 20- 30 bucks after bills- thankfully DH was able to walk to work so we used it for groceries.
freecycle rocks great you can even post what you need and alot of times it will be someone who just realizes they have a spare or know of one.
It always amazed me what people replace or throw out- seems so wasteful doesn't it?
There is no reason where logic does not exist
yep, it's odd what people will
throw away. DH is a garbage man (oh wait, sanitation engineer hahaha) and finds things in dumpsters ALL the time. Our entire house was furnished with hand me downs and things he would find. I also work at the dump, and will frequently get people to give me stuff they don't want to pay to get rid of. Then, I will give it away on freecycle or take it to the local womans shelter or homeless shelter. I do also love freecycle.
LOL We have $17.00
I'm thankful the skids are with BM this week. After the bills this week we have $17 for gas this week. DH and I can get by but we can't do it with the skids here. They've got to eat. I'm fine with noodles of rice for a meal.
I'm not above dumpster diving either, lol
