Does your SO do this?

Today, the SDs decided that they didn't want to go to school. So my SO spent the entire morning trying to get them out the door. Instead of taking charge of the situation, he sat back and let them manipulate the situation. He absolutely refused to go in their room to check and see if they were getting dressed. It irritated me b/c I knew they were just sitting on the floor in the guest room. In fact, SD7 was laying on the floor sleeping. He ended up threatening and cajoling them until they finally got dressed. They ended up walking out the door 20 mins late and he was late for work as a result. When he was finished working, he and I were talking. He said he was happy with the fact that he got the SDs to school this morning. I almost fell out of my chair. Really DF??? It seemed to me that the SDs made the decision to go to school on their own time. I told him that. I also told him that I am tired of him babying SD7. The girl talks like she is a two year old. He didn't get mad. Instead, he did something that irritates me more than anything else. He made an excuse. "Well completelypuzzled, I didn't go in their room and force them to get dressed because their mom could report me to CPS and I would lose custody. She did that once before." I just looked at him like he sprouted another head. I never told him to go in there while they were changing, just to go in there and tell them to get their butts in gear. At this point, they were both sitting on the floor fully dressed in their pajamas. He promised me he will be more assertive with them next time. And I appreciate that he has been cracking down on them. I just wish he would make the changes without the excuses. I feel like the excuses are a cop out and it takes all of my self control not to roll my eyes at him. But really, ladies, do your SOs ever make lame excuses for not doing something or not following through with the skids? It seems like every time that I call DF out on something, he gives me an excuse. I am so tired of it.
