One step Closer to full blown StepMOM!

AshMar654's picture

Hi I was debating about posting this because of the criticisms that I will likely receive. This past weekend I had one of the most exciting weekends of my life. My SO and I closed on our house and renovations are fully underway. The day we got the house and the keys SO popped the question down on one knee and everything. It was absolutely perfect and amazing.

I was in total shock and no where near expecting it. I knew we had kinda talked about it but I thought it was so far in the future. I just wanted to share my exciting news.

SO got a new JOB!

Yes you read the title correctly my SO got a new job that does not travel anymore. He will be starting before we move in. I am so happy, he will be working nights so he will be able to get his son off the bus and run him to activities and all that fun stuff. By the time he has to leave for work I will be asleep anyway so I am good. Yeah a trade off I know nights is not easy but it is what he has to do for now to not travel.

Oh and it is more money too. I am going to gloat here a little.....Sounds like my SO is really stepping up and doing what he said he would do......end gloat.

it was a very LONG weekend and INTERESTING!

S0 it has been decided that I will not be going up to my SO’s and his parents’ house that much anymore. Weekends that I do go up there I will be only spending one night it will probably only be like one maybe two more until we can move into the new place. The last two weekends I was up there to spend time with him and his son.

Curious of thoughts and opinions!

Hello,

I am just looking for some honest opinions here on if this is a smart move or to hold off for a little. SO and I will be moving in soon, June is the date so far. If you know back story his parents will be moving for FL shortly after that. Bio mother is not in the picture. Anyway has anyone on here ever gone about being granted legal guardianship when living with an SO, DH, or anyone who has a young child full time?

What would you do if your skid was allergic to your animal?

I have been wondering this and I am sure it has been discussed here. If you knew that your SO's kid was allergic to your animal/pets what would you do, especially if you are moving livign together? Would you keep them, find a home for them? Would it make a difference if the skid lived with you 24/7?

Things are looking Good.

So there are lots of stories on here that are not always positive and I get it trust me. I have some positive notes. This weekend my SO and I though we almost were not going to get this house but all is good and everything still seems on schedule. Those of you who have read my blogs you know I was having some issues dealing with future SIL. Well SO sat down and talked to her and he did thank her for everything she has done the last several years. I was not there for the conversation but he told me about it a little.

Trying to get an idea of my Future...

AshMar654's picture

Posing a question how hard is it to really deal with future in-laws when it comes to being around your SO’s kid/s? Is it always like a back and forth where one thing is said and then another thing happens? Are you sometimes seen as the bad person even though you literally have done nothing to warrant that? Do you just ignore them and only listen to your SO?

Taking Sound Advice from everyone here.

This morning I was getting myself all wound up about the whole SIL situation and everything else. As I was doing this I came to a realization that my relationship with my SO and his son has become about her and her problems, and I have fed into it, not claiming total innocence here. I am not going to let that happen to anymore and create issues among what has been a really good relationship so far with my SO.
