His hometown and his BFF wedding
We went to his hometown two weeks ago to his BFF wedding, and if you read the last 2 post you could see what I was afraid of.
I don't believe is signs, but I should've started that weekend, first the taxi didn't show up to take us to the airport. We ended up taking our own car and leave it at the airport's parking lot, then our car rental didn't have the infant car seat for our DS that I had already paid for! anyway, since it's not illegal in MX to carry babies on your lap that's how we ended.
When we arrived to my MIL's, SD was already there and she told us her BM would go and pick her up the following day. At the next day I called BMs and asked her to come and pick up her child before 2pm as we needed to go out and get ready for the wedding, she arrived at 2:15! Luckily I already knew she was going to try to sabotage our weekend so we really had to leave by 3:00, SD then told her mom she wanted to come back tomorrow morning and she agreed to bring her to my MIL's by noon.
SD free, we were able to do everything... that included a quick errand to the mall... then I saw her, this OW from the last post was walking down the street with her daughter on her side. She didn't see me and I know she wouldn't recognize the rental car, so I followed her }:) well... not so much, just a block where the mall entrance was. I haven't seen her in years and still she looks the same, and the kid...wow she has grown a lot! and I noticed she doesn't resemble to DH nor her own BM(was she changed perhaps at the hospital???).
Not suggesting anything here, but if you look at SD and DS you can tell they're relatives, they both have the same big light brown almond eyes, brown hair color, same nose tip, olive skin color, etc (let me say the both are really good looking kids), even if you look at their cousins they all look like little clones... but not this girl, she has curly and blondish hair, smaller eyes, different face shape... nothing like DH... I kept telling myself. Then I let them go and moved on with my chores.
and SIL ended up baby sitting for us. We discovered later that BM had left SD with her own mother and left to a music festival (think of coachella or austin city limits but much much smaller) so I relaxed and had fun at the wedding.
On sunday, a very much hungover BM left SD and we had her the whole day. Everything went quasi-fine until I borrowed her my iPad. She was playing with an app where you can load pictures and add them special effects and text and stuff...she asked me how to erase text and if the images were saved I told her the images weren't saved until she select the option "save" and to hand me the iPad so I could show her how to erase text. She went crazy! didn't really want to show me anything until I was able to take the damn thing from her. On the screen there was a picture of me, and the text said "Look! an elephant -->" (the arrow was pointing to my face). Ok, I'm not skinny and probably I'm a little overweight but I'm surely not an elephant! I asked her why she did that and she just ran away (with my iPad) and kept playing. I decided not to do a drama scene so I kept my mouth shut.
By the time we had to leave, BM showed up. I still feel reluctant to let her meet my DS, so I rushed to get everything into the car and leave as soon as possible... but of course! she was blocking the driveway so we couldn't go anywhere until she left.
SD asked her to come inside the house, I think she got last time's message because she didn't, then SD started again that she wanted her mom to meet her little bro. BM insisted they were in a hurry and told her to grab her backpack so they could leave. Then SD ran towards MIL and told her "my mom really needs to use the wc, can you let her in so she can go" (I was there! BM for once didn't say anything!!! and that made me suspicious about whose idea was back on December) so MIL let her in, and she ... I think BM pretended to use the wc as she took less than a minute to come in and out...while she was in there SD asked SIL if we could wait for her mom to come out of the wc and SIL told her to ask me. Since I heard everything and she didn't even notice, when she came running and was about to open her mouth, I shouted "NO [her name]!" she stood there looking petrified, by then BM was already on the door and SD just ran away without saying goodbye to anyone. MIL asked her to kiss DH goodbye and her lil' bro and she just shut her BM's door car closed.
Before our trip, SD used to message DH all afternoon using SIL's smartphone (using whatsapp)... she hasn't write anything ever since, and she doesn't even want to talk to DH when he calls.
After we returned home I told DH about the picture and the text and how I felt, he said I should have told him before so he could corrected her at the moment. To be honest, I don't think he has the "power" to do that, she doesn't seem him anything different but "the guy who buys me stuff". And of course, MIL, SIL and BM won't be any help since they are all colluded and I suppose SD took the elephant idea out of somewhere. I bet my coins that it was either from SIL or MIL... most likely from SIL...Oh! did I mention she is anorexic? like...for real!? and MIL is happy because all the weight she has lost..they're both skinny...but SIL is bones and skin literally... we are the same age and she looks like 10 years older than me... her healthy weight is around 121 lbs, she currently weights 99 lbs and she is 5 ft 5"...
Anyway we won't get to see SD until the next whole family reunion (BIL and wifey and SIL ... this is going to be a blast! ) and our all-paid-by-MIL vacation to the beach next July.
I hope I get very very ill and end up in the hospital so I can avoid going...I can stand them all separately but when they are together nothing good has come out of that...
So the questions are:
Should I get over this OW and D? Is there anything I can do? Was I mean to SD? How would you have handled it? Any advice for next reunion (recipes to get me sick are welcome!)?
